Ummm....musicians are musicians for life. Whether we want them to hang it up is a moot point. Creative people create because they are driven to do so from something inside. When they stop they stop because they either can't do it the way they want or they find another creative endeavor that feeds their soul the same way. Like everything else, we believe creatives are around for our amusement and are therefore disposable when we tire of them. Their product may be...but not their lives. And in Phil's case- neither are disposable as he still has an audience and a drive.

That's exactly what I've been saying for a very long time. I was born a musician and I will be playing drums to the day I day. I'm 57 years old and still practice and play 2 hours or more a day. I'll be playing til the cows come home or I die, whichever comes first. I wouldn't doubt just wanting to see his son on tour watching him play every night, was good enough reason to breakout and start touring again.

Yes I agree you a musician and creative for life. Where I disagree is that should necessarily been on stage. I respect Phil it was in my teenage era when his solo career became truly massive. He can sing he can barely stand, really is this a great show nobody is doubting his songwriting chops and his creativity but this is not good.

@@claudiabailey5302 It's still his choice to be on stage. And it's the choice of people who want to hear Phil do his music to either show up or not show up. Good. Bad. Doesn't really matter what we think beyond whether or not we want to buy a ticket or follow him on social media. We can't manage or control Phil's life decisions.

Lincoln Adams People can spend there money on what they like because it’s there money. I am not arguing Phil talent or his love for performing. But this is a awful performance of a man that can’t hold a tune anymore and can’t play the instrument that he is known for anymore. As I said at the start if people want to pay for that it’s up to them.

As a lifelong Phil Collins fan who has never seen him live, i passed up the chance to see him in Detroit because I couldn't bare to see him as the current shadow of his former self. Still, I wish him nothing but the best and give all his issues he still sounds good.

@@kyl3sh3a No offense, but it doesn't really appear that he can do much right now as is. He has lost a good deal of his vocal range, seems to strain and have difficulty singing a lot of his material, can't play the drums anymore, can't stand for any decent length of time, sits in a hunched position almost the entirety of his performances, and looks generally uncomfortable. I shudder to think what the Genesis reunion shows will be like. Perhaps his son, Nicholas, should be not only playing the drums but doing the singing as well. I hate to say it, but this is bloody awful and I have no idea what Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks saw in him to say let's get the band together again other than a nostalgia tour and shameful money grab. Some things are better left alone. If they were so insistent on getting Genesis back together, then they should have asked Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett to come along for the ride and do a broad cross section of material from the early days with a few songs from the Phil Collins era as well with Peter and Phil taking turns on lead vocals and back up harmonies. When singing sounds painful for the person performing that means it is time to put one's ego aside and accept reality in one way or another so as not to make one's fans feel as if they have been given anything less than the best that performer can offer. This is very sad to watch.

That's why am pasting my personal email address here via: philcollins00125@gmail.com to enable you share your opinions about my songs or send personal message you wish to share with me. I can't still appreciate everyone of you enough for the unconditional love and massive supports ❤️ it's because of you am here today. I hope you won't stop listening and supporting my songs. Thanks once more and remember to stay safe ❤️

Lol good ol Phil it's never as straight forward as it seems when he is playing that clapping thing in the middle it's just behind the beat lol got to love him also he now looks like my dad so much so I easily convinced my 14 year old daughter it is her grandad 😂😂😂

Very true. I noticed immediately. Almost to throw the crowd off lol. I have seen a few clips from this tour and he did it every night. I thought it was a sound delay at first, but no. It was thought out and it his feel too.

I am blown away by the nasty comments on this thread! Phil wrote this music. He’s passing the torch. Stop being so nasty and “LIVE AND LET LIVE”. Yes, he’s suffering, but REALLY, you nasty commenters?! How dare you! His voice is still awesome!

IMO they should help him out a little on his vocals. Let him sing along with his voice from 7 years ago . Just his voice. Everything else is great but his vocals needs a slight boost. And nobody would know. 💜💚💜💚
