I think Charlie is missing Doug's point on the Alec Torelli incident. It wasn't that Alex intentionally angleshooted, it was how he acted in the direct aftermath. At first acting like he had sympathy for Wolfe's mistake, he very quickly changed his perspective on the situation and it seemed like he not only tried his best to exploit it but then also made a video afterwards which showed him almost bragging about it. The backlash was a little over the top but Alec also handled it pretty poorly. Better efforts to resolve the situation afterwards with Wolfe and not try to deny what happened (like he did in a later video), but accept what he did wrong and apologise, and the whole thing would've blown over.
@Stockhandle123

I think it was mostly that he did intentionally angle shoot.
@ML-sj3gi
Жыл бұрын
@@Stockhandle123 It is true that a few people think he did it intentionally. I consider those people to be idiots. There is 0% chance that someone who has a coaching business tries to angle shoot someone in a televised game when he would likely lose more through damage to reputation than he would gain from the angle. Secondly, what kind of weak angle is tricking someone into going all in when you have AKo. It is very likely that if they are going all in they have a pair, in which case you went to a lot of effort to angle them into a situation when you have less than 50% equity, and that is the most likely scenario with other's including being completely crushed by AA. So, it is stupid to think that it was his big plan to get it all in vs someone pre, then surprise them with the idea that he has an extra few chips behind. Therefore, you are an idiot. It is also the case that you have taken the time to make comments and watch videos on the topic, so you are informed enough to know that Alec immediately suggested that the extra chips not play, which would have been a simple solution and completely resolved the situation. Alec suggested that but the THIRD player in the hand did not allow it. So, you think he intentionally angled a player who may well have more than 50% equity into getting all his money in, and then after risking his reputation he took immediate steps to rectify the situation and prevent his error of putting his chips behind his stack from negatively impacting Wolfe. And then you describe it as doing nothing. In summary, you have no ability to understand relatively simple situations and your opinion of what happened is not only inaccurate, but in many respects the opposite of the truth. You have no ability to use common sense to determine likely motivations, and your understanding of the basic events is worse than elementary. For these reasons, I think your opinion is generally worthless.
@adamshort2534

Exactly; and to this day he refuses to deal with the actual accusation Doug made, because there just is no defense to that. He misled the floor about what had actually happened and never owned up to the fact that he hid the chips. Intentionality is not the issue, it's the fact that he didn't take responsibility for what he had accidentally done.

Just read Galfond's blog and listened to his excerpt from the twitter space with Polk. So great to see you guys' emotional depth and insight, something the poker community, and any other community, needs and thrives on. Great to see you "winning" Charlie, even if it's not really about that. It's honestly not often I am proud of partaking in the poker world (in my very very minor way - and this is also based on live poker being illegal where I play) but you guys are a source of this pride. There is no productive dialogue or reasoning possible with the big bullies. It had been true before the social media, and the platforms they now have access to are only going to make it worse since they can reach and manipulate wider audience and it is harder to stop them. They only way to defeat a bully is having them misstep in a way that you get hold of a stonecold proof of their scumbag behavior. You can set the situation up or get lucky. This is how I dealt with more than one person. No other way.

@you120999

@@therealexquisiteexistentia4743 For sure. Ill give an example. Charlie at one points asks the question to Phill if he stands up for people being bullied on twitter, knowning that he (Charlie) does and Phill does not. He knows this because he follows Phill on twitter. I guininely believe that Charlie wants to do the best for the world and probably hopes to convince Phill to stand up more for people, but I feel like this is indirect way I maybe not the way. There are multiple questions where Charlie does the morally correct things and phill does not and he asks these kind of suggestive questions. That came accros as virture signaling for me. Hope that makes things a bit more clear for you :)

We all want to think of ourselves as good people. It's core to many of our identities. I don't think anyone should intentionally be a bad person. However when we realize and accept that we are sometimes bad and make that part of our identity, it makes it less difficult to express an unpopular opinion, or offend someone that needs offending, or have a confrontation that needs to be had. Dennis Leary said it best: "I'm an asshole, oh-eee-oh. I'm the world's biggest asshole, oh-eee-oh." Sing along now.

About the metaphysical thing. When I had a psychedelic trip(which I don't recommend people doing btw), I was seeing, feeling and hearing a small amount of iron next to me in bed. I put my teeth on it and It felt very real. It was gone pretty fast to. Also a weird thing that happend is that I saw two young woman talking and laughing on a stand table. At a certain point I waved to them and they looked back to me very confused, like they couldnt see who was waving to them. I don't know what it means, but it was a interesting experience.

I remember watching the Alec Torelli "incident", and also concluded from the raw footage that it was an unintentional mistake, and that Doug's accusations were completely unfair. If Alec made a mistake, it was that he didn't rebate Daniel Wolf the chips that Wolf didn't realize was in play. ... Not that Alec had to, but when an unusual situation and miscommunication like that happens, and when it's also a televised game, it might be a good gesture to do that. Other than that, it wasn't at all an intentional angle.
@Someguyonyoutube5000

Alec Torelli added a $5k chip onto the back of his stack without telling the floor. He added a chip to a hidden chip stack, increasing his chip stack by more than 25% without anybody knowing. It was above the table limit. That’s called going north. Everybody knows that’s wrong.

I feel like I’m being gas lit into thinking Doug accused torelli into angle shooting. I re watched the vid and he specifically says he doesn’t think it was an angle shoot but just opportunistic taking advantage of a situation that he found himself in. That’s far less of an accusation than the many other videos that straight up called it an intentional angle shoot.

Here’s a good quote from Conversation with God by Neal Donald Walsh. “Then those who taught you were wrong. I have never set down a "right" or "wrong," a "do" or a "don't." To do so would be to strip you completely of your greatest gift-the opportunity to do as you please, an experience the results of that; the chance to create yourself anew in the image and likeness of Who You Really Are; the space to produce a reality of a high and higher you, based on your grandest idea of what is of which you are capable. To say that something -- a thought, a word, an action --is "wrong" would be as much as to tell you no to do it. To tell you not to do it would be to prohibit you. To prohibit you would be to restrict you. To restrict you would be to deny the reality of Who You Really Are, as well as the opportunity for you to create an experience that truth. There are those who say that I have given you free will, yet these same people claim that if you do not obey Me, I will send you to hell. What kind of free will is that Does this not make a mockery of God-to say nothing of any sort of true relationship between us?”
