I remember this song from a children's show that aired between noon and 12:30 on Winnipeg's CTV station (CKY) back in the 1970s and early 1980s called "Archie and His Friends". The show was hosted by puppeteer and ventriloquist Bob Swartz (aka Uncle Bob), and the song was lip synched by the trouble making puppet Marvin Mouse on numerous occasions. However, I knew it was Phil Harris from seeing "The Jungle Book" and other Disney animated movies he voiced. I always enjoyed this song.

Indeed. Dad used to make up imaginary monsters for fun and to entertain us kids. One was "The Krippendorf" which exactly fits into this song. "I discovered a Krippendorf....etc" He said of this monster, even its name, was so horrible they wouldn't allow it on the record, so they had to dub in the foot-stomping instead. Forever after that, we enjoyed hollering "Krippendorf" just at the right moment, whenever this song came on the radio. It definitely belongs in the game. Maybe The Krippendorf isn't so imaginary after all!

I remember this from the Vhs "Kidsongs: Very Silly Songs" It was also used as part of the variety show at Midwest Furfest 2009, where the three stomps were replaced by "Great Big Fox" and a fox fursuiter kept popping out of a giant box

When I first saw the song in "Kidsongs: Very Silly Songs", I thought it was too depressing and very out of place for a Kidsongs song.

Considering when this song came out, my best guess to what the thing is is something communist.
