It's a shame egos along with wage packets have corroded the game nowdays..this ' downing tools and throwing the manager under the bus should be a recognized crime against their contract they sign. Just wanted to say, when Phil came back for us in that one game vs Wolves, it was unbelievable. He put every player on that pitch to shame. It’s sad but I know every United fan was glad to see him get his chance even if it was one last time.

Comes across as a Really mentally strong and nice guy. I remember his last competitive game for united when he played the full 90 mins after not playing for a year, he gave absolutely everything for the team in that game!

Whoever authorised the 4 year extension in 2019 caused that, he signed it and done his knee again that summer. Played about a dozen games from that summer until he left the club. The club choose to award that contract so they have to honour it, from the interview you can tell he was trying everything to get back. Club doctors should have retired him due to injury and had his payoff and pension.

There is also another context. Not all people are honest and not all people are hardworking. All footballers who don't perform come out eventually and speak like Phil does here... But statistically that cannot be the truth for all of them. People are different. Some are lazy, some are arrogant, some are liars, some are cheaters and some suffer. Why do we believe them and sob for them as soon as they open their mouths?? He could have retired years ago and stopped taking money without working for it. He took the money which comes from the fans and now complains about said fans.

I went through the same issue as Phil but no where near his level, I knew football was over when I couldn’t kick a ball without excruciating pain in my knee I was always embarrassed and felt like I let my team mates down where I couldn’t play a half regularly

Anyone else find it incredibly frustrating when you have a guest like this and neither host actually asks a follow up question? For example Phil might have said I had to bite my lip” neither presenter decide to say can you give an example? They just continue with new questions and no real deep conversation gets going in my opinion.

As a United fan that saw Phil Jones signed for the club when I was a kid up till seeing him retire when I'm now 26, I feel so sorry for Phil to be very unlucky with injuries and not able to reach his full potential. Now that he's in the coaching setup, I sincerely hope this new path of football will be a success for him and gets to achieve what he couldn't as a player.

Massive respect to Phil for opening up like this. I think part of the problem is that the clubs are so secretive about the injuries that players have. And so, as fans, we don’t know what is wrong with a player or what they are going through to try and get back to fitness. This leads to speculation and negative comments.

He won five major trophies, including a Premier League title, an FA Cup, a Europa League title and two FA Community Shields, regardless of injuries people should show respect. I saw Phil since he was debuted . . for me his carreer is excelllent! . I consider him a true United Blood player . . he was great both at CB. LB and even DM . . i liked he was not just a guy that kicked the ball away . . he got the ball and prevented many goals. . . i do consider the hate he got recently is unfair to his true game. . I love Phil Jones. I would have him back at United in a flash. Reason being, that even though he was not good enough to be a first team player, you could guarantee he would give 100% on the pitch. 3/10 performance or 9/10, the guy would wring himself dry to do his job. Fergie is a really unique manager in that he would value personality as much as skill. And what he would do is buy a few world class players and then buy players with great personality. Those personality players can play great next to someone world class but on their own they will struggle. And that was a big problem when Fergie left. All the world class players started retiring and needed replacing but instead the club thought the personality players could take over. When they couldn't. That must have been a really tough time for them post Fergie. Because Phil Jones next to Rio or Vidic is fine. But on his own he's not good enough for United. But you couldn't say that to Jones because he's won the prem and so rightfully he will back himself.

He seems to be a very decent guy. He was extremely unlucky with injuries. But to be honest he should have been let go a long time ago. Why he was given a new 4 year contract in 2019 with that injury history I will never know. In his 12 seasons at United he was injured for 1,216 days according to transfermarkt. That's over 3 years! In total he missed 264 games through injuries. In his last 4 seasons he played 13 games across all competitions. That's just an insane injury history

The thing is. It does take one person to make a situation bad. But it also only takes one person to make it good. And that's what people fail to acknowledge. Sometimes great leaders can make the group feel like everyone is making good decisions and that's what happened when Fergie left. United fell apart because everyone wasn't as great as Fergie made it seem.

Man gave his all on the pitch and the abuse he gets for his last contract, not his fault. But the point about Rangnick was bang out of order. He doesn't get a 90 min podcast to explain his decision making at United. Till I hear his side of things, I'll reserve my judgement. Still, I have loads of respect for Phil and him laying his body on the line for the club. That head-first clearance against Giroud was the stuff you want to see from a United player.

It wasn't Jones fault for stealing a wage at Man Utd. Anyone in his position would do the same. It, was management's fault for keeping Jones around and renewing his contract, TWICE. First, in 2015, you could argue is a mistake, but then in 2019 again, that's just idiotic. OGS really did a great favour for his pal here. How else would you explain Jones getting a new contract? Don't they consult the doctors? What a scam! We are talking about millions of dollars in wages, and those goons award contracts like dishing out dog biscuits
