Phil could have played with anyone he wanted to or could have launched a "secular" career. He is a real Christian and I won't say that for just any Christian musician. Phil is the real deal. Always has been.

First time I saw Phil Keaggy was at the Harvest with Greg Laurie, Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, California, 1976. I was 11 and I was hooked. Tried duplicating his music through High school as I wore out his old lickerish vinal albums, "What a Day" "Phlip Side" West was One." I saw him every chance I got along with my guitar playing friends at Cal Baptist University and got to meet him when he did a concert at the school back around 85 or so. Class act who has given glory to God with every note he plays. Phil, thanks for your faithfulness to live life for the Lord and give Him glory through your music.

Just one unimportant comment.. this was my first experience mixing Phil Keaggy. This session was recorded initially on 12-8-80 at the old Park Road Productions studios, formerly PTL's studio they pretty much abandoned for the big Heritage USA thing. I would have rather stayed and done projects like this one, which was produced by Lee Cantelon and directed by Bob Lauro.

This is the first time I’ve ever even heard of the idea that time will just suddenly stop, and I’ve learned about all kinds of ideas. In reality, that is not the case. Time will always exist, though it varies between time-spaces, and there are dimensions where it doesn’t exist. But here in this dimension, it will always exist. The expression “time has run out” simply means that there are no more opportunities left to do a certain thing, not that there is literally no time at all.

My introduction to Phil was "Crimson and Blue," and I have backtracked his catalog and bought successive albums after "C&B." Another intriguing comment made by one of the "greats", which I learned from reading a post of an article from the 70s about the bustling Ohio circuit, is Joe Walsh quipping that Phil "taught me I didn't know a whole lot of guitar" or something to that effect. I think Phil is the superlative guitar player, with dignity and humility to match, who does what no others do--give glory to God in song and deed. I have enjoyed his artistry and devotion to Jesus!

Widely regarded as the greatest guitarist of all time, Keaggy still modestly side-steps that title. Pioneered the chiming guitar sound, amongst a zillion other unique, signature sounds. Anointed to bend the sound of a generation back to the Cross.

@@tacomadc You are so right. There are many virtuoso guitar players; Eric Johnson and Lee Ritenour come to mind. No one can compete with every other great guitarist in their forte. Phil is unique for his guitar virtuosity in electric as well as acoustic playing. As a musician, I appreciate Phil's amazing abilities, but also recognize his limitations(they are not technical or proficiency). He definitely ranks as one of the top ten musical talents over the past fifty years, in my book. Steve Oakley
