Phil Vassar was a songwriter before putting out an album of his own. He was one of the very first country singers I loved and is a massive reason I'm a country music fan now. He wrote some amazing songs like My Next Thirty Years from Tim McGraw and Bye Bye from Jo Dee Messina. Glad you found his music. He's so underrated and deserves more love.

I opened for Phil at theToledo Ohio Rib Off at the fairgrounds. He put on a great show, and even got our local news anchor on stage that he went to college with to sing. It was one shining highlight of my musical career.

The video was shot in Nashville. It was a very cold 20 degrees that day. In the music video, helmed by Deaton-Flanigen, Vassar walks along a road and passes by people from all different walks of life who are struggling in a broken world. "It was like 20 degrees in Nashville that day," he recalls of the shoot. "A few people actually got frostbite. It was freezing cold, and I tell you what, to me it's the best video I've ever done. It's powerful in the way they did that. George Flanigen was the one who shot that video, but it was just like, man."

Phil Vassar is one of my all time favorite country singer/songwriters. Some time back you honored my request for American Child. When I first heard it, I selfishly thought about how it applied to me and my sons. Today it’s about my granddaughters. IMHO, his writings are consistently perceptive and generational.

Such a great song. Phil Vassar is a great singer/songwriter. He’s done songs for many artists like Tim McGraw(My Next Thirty Years), Colin Raye(Little Red Rodeo), Jo Dee Messina(I’m Alright), Alan Jackson(Right on the Money) & Kenny Chesney(For a Little While).

You are also the father of baby girls…it hits hard when you are a parent. We need to understand that he is our Heavenly Father and how it must grieve him when we hurt or do wrong. Remember, none are guaranteed our next breath! Love him! Love your family!

This is one of the best songs I've heard from Phil Vassar. It is one of his essential known songs, but like you said, it's very powerful. Do we ever try to look at things as if we could have God next to us and tell us what He thought? What would He say? I like how it ends because the Bible says we are to have faith as a child. Think of how 3 & 4 year-old children take the things they see & hear just as they are. This nation needs a child-like faith again.

Love Phil Vassar! One of the most underrated country artists. Probably because he didn't look country. Another Day In Paradise is a good song. It was popular because it was catchy. But a song that I think you'll appreciate the lyrics and the story of is Don't Miss Your Life. You definitely need to hear that one! Also I live about 30 minutes from Little Rock!

I have never heard this song of Phil Vassar's, but yes very poignant and great take on the POV.....and all the persons walking past him and very few see him, until the end when the innocent child stands right in front of Him and is looking right into his face. We all need to have the belief in and love for Him like an innocent child.

This one was released 20 years ago in 2023 & it is true today. 'Just another day in paradise' is spunkier & a great song, appreciating life as a parent. Ali would like it too. Also, your comment reminded me that Collin Raye sang a song called 'Little Rock'.

The point of the song/video is to walk with God. He'll lead you the right way, away from the hurts and harms of this world, and at the right pace for His plan. 💙 The whole video He is waiting for someone willing to hold His hand and follow Him instead of ignoring Him and going their own way.

As a guitarist, why isn't there any David Gilmour on your channel? Try "Comfortably Numb" live from the 1994 Pulse concert. Gilmour's very soul is in that guitar! Word of caution, NEVER pause a Gilmour solo! It may never be safe for you to go out in public again!!!!
