That's his signature Arcane PX-90 but he did play a lot of Gibsons with original P-90 for Fretted Americana and they sound amazing.

The A string is wrapped over the stop-tail, while all other strings are passed "normally" straight through the holes to the bridge. Any particular reason for that?

Actually it's not the A but the D. He does that with the high E too, they're the thinnest strings and doing that diminishes the tension from the saddle.

They record videos in batches and release them periodically, lots of people do this as there's no point devoting a whole working day to record a single 15 min video, may as well shoot a bunch of them while everything is set up. *Although as to why they release 2 videos today I have no idea aha

coffeewaldo Haha, your wife has good taste. ;-) I actually didn't like the P90, in the beginning, cause I, too, mainly use humbuckers. But the more I hear this pickup, the more I think it gives you the best of both single/humbucker worlds. Big rocking sound, but also clarity, and nice fat cleans.

YAMAHA = too many compromises. great guys but they're hands were bound by the head dudes in Japan. "can't make you a fat neck", "can't make an affordable model", "only available in 1 color"... stuff like that. Framus made my dream neck, dream guitar and they're going to have an affordable model in 2017.

The guitar and bass cabinets are actually in another room, plus when they do the live parts each musician can receive a dedicated mix from the console.

You guys are blowing my mind :) Do you have any experience with Custom IEMs? I've been reading a lot about Audio 64, JH Audio, Ultimate Ears IEMs and these guys make it sound like IEMs are as good as a monitor speakers/floor wedges or over-ear headphones. Does that make any sense?

I know that the technology itself is quite recent but a lot of artists seem to like it. I wouldn't use those myself as my ears are way too sensitive but having the noise cancellation and monitoring rolled in one and close to your eardrum should definitely give some good results.

You can't book a studio for ten minutes to do a video and leave so they shoot a whole bunch of episodes the same day. Besides Phil is a session guitarist and has to record and tour so he can't come once a week to do just one guitar.
