Only philly can destroy 2 landmarks. Veterans Stadium and the spectrum. What's the logic in tearing down legendary places? Well, there is no logic.... welcome to Philadelphia.

This was the absolute definition of horror show. People were cheering when they should have been crying, and they were playing/singing "God Bless America" when they should have been singing "Amazing Grace". I was mortified.

I just found out today (3/29/19) that it was demolished. I feel sad & I'm not even from Philly. I saw Nine Inch Nails perform there in November 2005. It was the BEST concert I ever attended. Good times.

This just like watching CandleStick Park in San Francisco being slowly torn apart. All those childhood memories of the Niner and Giants games I went to now In a pile of rubble.

I never understood this. People cheering at the demolition of a sports cathedral is ridiculous. They did the same in St. Louis when they demolished old Busch and the arena and in most towns where a great stadium goes down. The new stadiums that were build in the last 30 years are mostly modern-day cookie cutters and bland.

I guess as long as there are crowds and cameras there will be people whooping and hollering and cheering the spectacle like it's supposed to be some kind of a celebration. Goes to show how the gullible the public is when the demolition of a historic building is made up to be a big celebration. It's like cheering at a Grandparent's funeral.

glenfenderman it wasn't a "historic" building per say. But only a real philadelphian would understand anyway.

Pretty stupid to sing "God Bless America" BEFORE demolishing a famous landmark. Also, why are they CHEERING?! I stopped watching the video after the wrecking ball failed to do any damage after the 3rd try.

Wow can't believe I'm just founding out that they demolished the Spectrum. Moved from Philly in 2002, but anywho, so many great concerts, games and events held at the Spectrum that I'm sad to see that it was demolished. That old sports complex holds lots of memories from Veteran's Staduim to the Municipal Stadium. Don't see why Veteran's Stadium and the Spectrum couldn't have stayed and been used by the schools and colleges, but I guess they needed the space for more parking.
