I'm going to see him May at The Robin in Bilston, UK. I saw him play with Jeff Healey years back and he kinda held back but then I bought his Peace machine album- absolutely phenominal! Not since I first heard Hendrix as a kid that a guitar solo made me jump around the room!! Thanks for the upload Squint666!

@antony5linteau don't compare. just love and accept. theres trend. and theres guitar playing. john mayer wants to do both. this guys about the guitar playing. it doesnt make john mayer any less of a player. it just makes him more aware of connecting his passion with mainstream audiences,,,which in a way shows his skill to produce blues with pop. its all personal preference. blues is a feeling some choose to take up in playing and some make it. this guy and john mayer r paving 4 da next generatn.

I'm embarrassed when it comes to comment on Phillip Sayce.... in one hand I'm full of admiration for his obvious guitar and singing skills, I even would say I might want to sound the way he does myself but in the other hand, I'm not entirely convinced, though I do think Philip is one of the best that showed up recently. Weird feelings.

@djansouzapereira He don't make anything new...but he still being a AWESOME guitarist. He's one of the only who keep alive the heavy-blues sound of the late 60's (Hendrix was the best player in this style). All the musicians are influenced by other musicians : Kirk Hammet was influenced by Jimmy Page, Hendrix/Page by the bluesmen, Keith Richard by Chuck Berry...etc . Sayce don't pretend to create a new style, he just play the music he like...perfectly.

@solitarioblues Yeah because he uses the pentatonic scales to solo with. Other then that where is the SRV? Hendrix, sure, his songwriting is very, very influenced by Hendrix, soloing too. But SRV? Really? Stevie was a pure bluesman doing I,IV,V's almost exclusively (with the Riviera Paradise and Lenny exceptions) Philip is doing pretty non-standard chord progressions and songwriting here. Your comment reeks of ignorance. "Influences" people, not copycats. Not at all.

Is a good guitarist, but does not innovate at all. It has a great attachment to everything that has been done by great players, so while remaining attached to the style and way of playing which was the formula of success will be nothing less than a well made copy.
