Ema is the eldest child of a Dumagat family, residing in the Sierra Madre Region of the Philippines. Though just a girl for now, her childhood days are numbered, as she will soon be wed to a young boy from the tribe. But before that milestone, Ema has much to discover about the forest, as women are the primary hunters and gatherers in Dumagat societies. Accompanied by her mother and aunts, she sets out on a journey to absorb this essential wisdom before her betrothal ceremony with her beloved.
