Please be aware that the key for pediatric use is a separate purchase. It is NOT included with AED and additional cost is about $100

Keep on doing CPR according to the standard protocol: do the electrodes have to be left on the body for further heart beat scanning and possible shock? and how will it be initiated?

Yes, you keep alternating shocks and CPR, according to the AED's instructions, until either EMS shows up or the person shows some sign of life.

Is AED always ready to use or does it need to be periodically recharged as a part of regular maintenance? Thank you

@@notoco1199 Lol, very helpful Philips 🤦♂ The battery is not rechargeable and has to be replaced every 4 years or when the device tells you (if the AED gets used it'll probably has to be replaced sooner). I think it tells you audibly, and with the status light. You can also get status information by pressing the blue info button.

The pads have an expiration date of two years.

@@zenddoor you’re right, the defibrillator tells you when it’s needed to replace the battery. It tells you both audibly and visibly, when the status indicator doesn’t blink green and if the device chirps, the unit is not rescue ready and you then need to act immediately to make the unit rescue ready. The self test checks every day if the unit is working properly. The daily self test will also check the status and the functionality of the pads if they’re good or not, if for any reason the pads are no longer good, the defibrillator will chirp and the status indicator will not blink green to let you know that there is something wrong with the unit and that it may not be ready for an emergency. The monthly self test will test the whole AED internal components on their functionality, including charging and discharging. Every month it will charge its capacitors to full energy and discharge.
