These books shed so much knowledge about how the outside realm is so devious and deceitful, and also the knowledge of God and vision of God. Its strange but just reading these books makes it all so real, without such a book I think we would be in the dark. Its the ultimate discipline of the soul to read the teachings in the writings but it must also be stressed it is dangerous to practice them since they were in monasteries most of them and under a spiritual elder or superior. Its also good to read the actual writings on your own. Thanks for the upload hopefully it is not in vain. As the writers stressed the vanity of visible things, just don't think too much about what you are doing. The things we do might become shackles for the soul. Even if its just uploading a teaching to the internet. I am speaking from personal experience. The roboticalness of existence can make it complex.

How right you are. I feel the Lord’s loving correction each time I make one. My soul always feel pain from being exposed to so much undiluted truth. Also, you are correct, these writings are not meant to be self-help. Anyone wanting to benefit from them need to do so under the loving care of the Church. Preferably with a gifted spiritual father or mother. Sadly, it seems there have never been enough of the gifted men and women to go around. For those who cannot find such a spiritual director, they press themselves, with greater diligence, into the liturgy, the sacraments and the written word.

I am amazed at these ancient authors. Some of their insights show an insight long for by philosophers, sages, and psychiatrists - yet most of them lived with minimal contact with others. As they laud their souls bare before God, he, the Holy Spirit revealed depths about the human soul, about God, and about the world.

great psychological views. The interesting thing is that the word and origin of the word to Revere comes from the Latin word for fear or respect. I am not sure if the the person that wrote the quietness is a little invested in it.

@@theshatteredrock9222 And after "The Philokalia" and "The Ladder of Divine Ascent," I would request the 6 Volumes of Dumitru Staniloae's "The Experience of God." hehe :D I am a catechumen in the Orthodox Church. I wanted to do some audio-book recordings myself, but realized this is not my talent. I am greatly struggling with the very short pamphlet, "The Mystery of the Trinity in Simple Language" by Fr. Daniel Sysoev. This work you are doing is very much appreciated and won't go unnoticed by the Kingdom of God. Thank you for your dedication to this work, and please please keep it up!

I tried to listen to this and all I hear is self condemnation for sinful actions. Not a true call to holy living by faith in Christ Jesus. If you do follow Jesus, go back take a moment to read from beginning as this is the new scene based on the verse, John 13 31 and read it to John 17:26. Understand John 17 is the part he begins to pray to the father in heaven. If you still believe that the devil has power after reading John 12:30- 32, and Matthew 28 18 to 20, which is Jesus the true Jesus we say we follow, than we better check our hearts faith. Since I've been awoken to this truth back in 2016 my life has not been the same and in a good way. I watch people cause their own suffering, blame the devil and excuse their sinful actions. This is the people Jesus will say depart from me, I never knew you, worker of iniquity unless you repent and come in line with the correct truth. Truth according to Jesus in John 8 32, sets us free, it doesn't bring us back to bondage. Truth doesn't make us needy or dependent on people and it reestablishes communion and right standing relationship with the father through our faith in Jesus. We need to get this right. People are suffering and dieing flesh based grievous deaths instead of Righteous based deaths that are considered great joy to those who are going through those times. Sin is a choice and many fight within themselves than release that fight to others, stealing, killing and destroying while calling it God's will. That's a confused believer, not a confused God. The wrath and judgements people talk about for the world, he is not bringing to the world when his own so called people are full of wretchedness.

@Truth Ascending I don't know you, you don't know me. But what you said about me is not even correct. However, you revealed much of your life and even justified these places instead of repenting and obeying Jesus. I know it's easier to listen to people, than the very words of Jesus. But God didn't say go and translate Jesus to who we think he is. He said repent the kingdom of heaven is at hand. He didn't say justify yourself abs condemn others. He said remove the log from your eye, before worrying about others. The biggest issue is the sloppy mess in churches that make God and Jesus mom pathetic and the devil look like a ruler. I encourage you to get your life before Jesus and repent. The lord doesn't want you to excuse your attitude and actions toward your family while never being changed.

Sir I don't watch or listen to pastors. But that is a sign of immaturity. Have a blessed day. Common response for someone living by their flesh while calling it God. He is much better than you have spoken or represented making your religion worthless.
