I'm so old skool I was actually there when the breakbeat was first discovered on an archaeological dig in North West England in the mid 1980s. It was seriously underground believe me.. fossilised even.

I’m 44 been loving jungle ever since 17. This is the first time I’m hearing this melodic masterpiece. I was in bed. As soon as as I heard 0:42, I got out of bed and started dancing. I love KZitem.

Brilliant tune. Never known two tunes that mix together so perfectly. Wish Feeling Up, Say It and Flavour of a Sound would be released...

unreleased prototype, there was another one called one nation - they were supposed to be prototype 3 and 6. an old mate of mine was given the test presses by grooverider in australia many years ago. they are now both in another old mate's excellent private collection in south london.

It's possible it wasn't released because of the strings sampled from Future Sound Of London's "Cascade". Photek and Source Direct were notorious for sampling big chunks of FSOL without permission on their early releases and I seem to recall FSOL threatening to sue in a magazine interview if it happened again.

Great tune. I've been banging this for a few years now and I really wish I could buy/find this track or mp3 uncut. I am working on a mix where this would fit in perfectly.

@77OLDskool Older than 2 decades. I agree with you. I don't listen or agree with the music that is played nowadays. I was someone who had the honor of living in the Bronx/Manhattan ghetto's of New York, growing up with some of the best music (in my opinion). I live on old skool jungle/oldskool rap/experimental electronic music types of any sort.

just to feed into the convo: im soon to be 21. I wouldn't consider myself OG or anything. however been into DNB since 2003. Even then the stuff released back then is mile sdifferent than now. Let alone the birth of it in the ate 1980s if i have my facts right. Anywho.
@johnhopkinson4054

DnB birth was late 91 mate early 92,pretty much anything before that was considered Hardcore or early Jungle,anything around late 80's was still considered acid house related.

@@johnhopkinson4054 Yep bang on John... We raved to House, Techno & Breakbeat up until 1991, Hardcore in 1992, Darkcore in 1993 and then eventually the name Drum & Bass became more widely used as the music progressed into 1994... Listening back now to tunes from 1991 such as The Noise Factory on Ibiza recs we hear some tracks were part of that early drum & bass/jungle sound, but we never really knew it as that, it was just Hardcore.
