FYI. Most epoxy manufacturers recommend mixing the resin and hardener before mixing additives. Epoxy works on a molecule to molicue catalization. By mixing all at once you risk the epoxy having poor performance because one or the other component is absorbed in to additives leaving un catalyzed molecules. This is not the case for polyester or vinylester.

That is true. However it depends also on how much additive you are mixing into the resin. we are adding such a tiny amount here that it has no effect on the mix ratio. You can even have pre coloured batches made up of resin ready to use which we have also done in the past when adding small amounts of powder or pigment. if however you were making an epoxy filler for marine repair and adding around 40% powder for example, then you would certainly have a problem and you should in this case mix the epoxy resin and hardener together first.

Unfortunately there is no tested data as to how long the reaction lasts although it has been used in many applications and industries for years.
