Top advice! I especially agree about the having your camera close and visible. I work from home most of the week now, and keep my X-T30 in the dining room next to keys, hats, gloves etc, with the 35mm f2 on and a wrist strap. If I see some cool clouds out the window or just fancy getting out on my lunch break I just walk down the nearby few roads and try and get some photos for half an hour or so. Even if I don't always like what I ended up taking, half the fun is just getting up and going out there and trying things, being outside not to be going anywhere, just trying to appreciate the day and what is going on around me.

Roman , you are spot on . Retirement and grandchildren means I have less free time for my interests . To ensure that I continue to get the photos I crave , I keep my phone close by and it is my wide angle lens . I continue to rework my favourite walks and I have built up an impressive piece of work since I retired , despite the babysitting , which I have nurtured to camouflage my trigger finger . The look on faces caught as the camera rises and the little one holding my hand or in the pushchair disarms and causes a rye smile from mt subjects . I agree . Don’t give up , as even a walk back to the car usually turns something up that otherwise would have been missed because the camera had been packed away .

This is such a true story. I'm basically a beginner at photography, and I have pretty cheap gear. It was cold outside, but it was going to be sunset. I was about to just not go, because I thought it'd be a complete waste. And that's when I took the best shot ever (so far)... makes me eager to go out everyday, wondering what shots i'd walk away with

After having watched decades of photography advice, one might think there's not much more to say, teach, or learn about it. But actually, you never cease to learn, or at least you shouldn't unless you want to risk your photography becoming stale, staid, rigid, and ultimately boring. And while the advice you're giving may not necessarily be new or groundbreaking, it needn't even be because you have this rare gift of being truly inspiring and presenting it in ways that make it appear somehow fresh, a bit like a revelation. Is it because of your communication skills, your assured videography, or the cool photography you never fail to include? I dunno. What I do know is that my standard urge after watching is to reach for my camera, Roman. Which attests to the power of your content, I should think. Do keep on with what you're doing.

That first tip hit me so hard. This past weekend I wanted to go out and take some shots but the weather sucked and it was so cloudy. I decided screw it and went out. The second I reached my designation I was so glad I went out. Not only did the area look amazing in the conditions, but the sky cleared quite a bit. My only regret was being underprepared. I carried only 4 rolls instead of my normal 7 or 8. Biggest regret of my life.

These are very sensible advises. I remember once in Pennsylvania I was hiking with my wife. The day was quite hot, even though it was a beginning of September. She was saying that I just overtaxing myself, carrying the camera around, because the trail was through residential areas and the backside of some huge mall - seemingly nothing of interest. But it was a small creek along with a trail. And by happy chance I caught on camera a heron hunting down the trout in this small creek. These were very nice photos, and I'm still quite happy that I had a camera with me.

Love that first tip to not leave the location until you feel you've given it your all, and those photos came out amazing. I almost didn't go out one day while it was snowing, because I wasn't sure if I felt like being out in the cold. It was gorgeous though, so I decided to go out. Lone behold, I ended up taking my favorite photo I've taken to date. If you feel like you need to be there, give it a chance!

That is a sick photo from your quick story. I tell people that you make your own luck with photography and videography. I like visiting Big Sur and the first few times I went, one of the scenes I wanted was constantly foggy. I finally got the photo I was waiting for on the third visit. And sometimes I just make the best of it too. There was a creative block for a while and I ditched bringing my mirrorless. But I started using my iPhone more and I was satisfied, but then there was a time where I really wished I had mirrorless. After a few months going sans mirrorless, I started carrying around my camera again, just in case like you said.

@0:30 relating to waiting - especially for things like landscape - it is beneficial to be prepared to wait. Take a book with you to read, or have some way to make the time useful or fun for yourself. I've done a lot of sitting and relaxing and reading while waiting. And in these cases the time is just as much about doing the other thing as it is for photography. I've also laid down and taken naps in places to wait for the sun to reach a certain angle. The time you spend waiting absolutely does not need to be a waste. Having something else important to do can make you far more patient related to the photography. And even if the shooting is still a complete bust, at least you did something else also

Is that X-E4 you're using in the video? Still a bit hesitant upgrading from X-E3. It's either getting X100v or upgrading to X-E4. Still really mad about Fuji removing a lot fn buttons from X-E4. I do love GR3 so probably won't parting with it for a while.

I’m in the process of selling my beloved X-E3. Next step will be small, compact with Ibis and 40MP. That could be the X-T5 or in a couple of months the X-Pro 4, for I do love the rangefinder style I am used to. With a bit if luck a future X-E5 will have both Ibis and 40MP but that might be too much in a too little body for too low-end in marketing terms.
@xfani
Жыл бұрын
@@Viewtolove Honestly can't see Fuji putting IBIS and 40MP in X-E5. X-E line is not same as it was. Think Fuji has forgotten their pro-hobbyist consumers that have been loyal X-E cameras over the years. I'm very fond of rangefinder style cameras but I might get X-T5 in the future. Loved X-Pro so might go back using them.
