The shoe design is beautiful. It does have a tribal motif mixed with some ancient civilization. Whoever told you otherwise, just can't discern . It would be interesting to see black feathers instead of the beige spiraling stitching elements on top that try to mimic feathers. The beige leather elements however look amazing!

I don't really like the design of the shoe, but it's a complex design and seeing your process is interesting (and the end result is amazing!). This video format is perfect for me as I'm able to grasp your whole process without having to watch hours of video. Thank you for sharing!

You should totally use UVLayout's Maya plugin. Seamless bridging to/from UVLayout, with automatic mesh attribute transfer when returning.

can you recommend some place or link where I as a beginner can learn in-depth about all this...just too much to grasp when it comes to Mari and I have 0 knowledge on Mari's nodes..I've painted in Mari by hand just the base color maps and the displacement maps and roughness maps for some organic meshes but I've always found nodes and masks to be very confusing to start with..any kind of help would be great. Thanx anyway
