Have you ever wondered why some horse riders seem to have limitless and unwaivering confidence? How they never seem to show any signs of worry, anxiety or nervousness when riding their horses? At times we all can become discouraged and even feel alone in our struggle with nervousness on our horses but it is important to remember that even the most confident-appearing riders have a sense of fear at times. This fear is a healthy and natural part of riding. It is when this fear starts to prevent us from riding our horses that it becomes a big problem.
Riding anxiety can be triggered by even the smallest of incidents. Your horse may play-up at certain sounds or sights. Sometimes it can be something as simple as a behaviour such as pinning of the horses ears or pawing at the ground when riding that can set off a person's nervousness. It is therefore important to understand what your horse is trying to tell you and for you to be able to read your horse's body lanuage to ensure the safety of both you and your horse as well as other riders.
Most of the tme your horse is looking to you for guidance and it is up to you to decipher what the best course of action will be at any given moment when out riding. The more time that you spend reading your horse's body language and determining what their behaviors mean, the closer your bond will become and will strengthen both yours and the horses confidence.
This channel is dedicated to demonstrating everyday examples of behaviors a horse displays and how I choose to educate my horses and train them with groudwork that involves leadership and respect.
Join me on this journey to learn more about how I work with my horses.
As always, I showcase down-to-earth and true-to-life videos that are unscripted examples of situations that can and do arrise when working with my horses. I demonstrate the importance of connecting with your horse when youre on the ground as well as when youre riding. This approach helps to develop trust which is essential to both your horse's safetey and yours.
I show you real examples of where I become nervous about a situation and how I either choose to push through the anxiety or be sensible and accept that the situation may be too unsafe to keep riding. Understanding subtle cues that my horse is displaying is such an important thing to pay attention to.These videos are an ongoing journal that demonstrate the many grey areas around what is simply anxiety versus true danger in the horse world and ultimately how I seek a healthy balance.
