Early 60's she made her mark - so profoundly different and funny edgy - She made $35,000 a week in a Vegas deal that lasted months - in the early 60's. Imagine. She was on tv all the time. People either loved her or they didn't. In the 70's she was on the Gong Show - never gonged anyone. She is an icon. More far out than most women comediennes would go. She was a painter as well and is a great-grandmother. She is Americana at it's finest - an original.

She was an atheist, just like me. She was able to publicly state her beliefs, and yet she was able to entertain so many different kinds of people without politicizing or offending them. Not many people can pull that off. She was a very smart woman.
