This is quite genius for what it is, but the physical solving impracticality of it, not to mention extremely confusing layout of the puzzle, is quite unfortunate. I wonder if there will ever be a more practical implication of the 3^4. Still, it's an amazing development, and invention: truly mind blowing!

@grant-hypercuber
Жыл бұрын
I do have the files to print it, however, they have the parts to make a 2x2x2x2 which is a product that was invented by Melinda Green and she sells them, so I wouldn't feel right releasing them. In addition to this the tolerances of the pieces are very turned to my 3d printer so I'm not sure if they would work for anyone else. And also, I think people underestimate the crazy amount of time it took to assemble all of the pieces

What do the gyro moves even mean? Like, what's their purpose? ...More importantly, how do you keep the moves straight in your head, and not just smash the thang ding all over the table by "accident"?
@grant-hypercuber

The gyro move is a "4 dimensional rotation" of the puzzle, not all moves are accessible from the default orientation, so you have to rotate it 4 dimensionally to make them accessible And... You just get used to it

It should not be much worse than the 3^4 looks like. Well, at least not conceptually. The general shape of the puzzle would stay the same, it would just grow. Every 1c piece would become 4 1c pieces that form a core, all the 2c pieces that form the ridges or "faces" would become 4 2c pieces, all 3c pieces that make the edges would become 2 3c pieces, and the number of 4c pieces stays the same because the corners arent affected. The actual problem is that the puzzle would jump from like 80 pieces to over 200 pieces, which would mean that it more than doubled in size, and the 3^4 is already big, heavy and clunky to move, so the 4^4 would be significantly worse
