I didn't find it depressing at all, on the contrary it left me with a sense of joy to live in this world. The most beautiful things in this world is not money, technology, power, stuff or fame. The most beautiful things are the people around us, our relationships, the animals who share this planet with us from big whales to little bees. I think the movie left me with that beautiful sense of "sure, maybe one day this could happen and we are all going to turn into shit. But in the meanwhile I am going to enjoy the people and the nature around me" because as doctor Mindy said at the end "If you think about it we really had it all". I loved the movie.

I understand, with your career approach, that you would focus on the space science here. I wonder, though, if you missed the real point of the movie (as it seems so many have). It was written as an allegory to our persistent refusal to wake up to the dangers that climate change poses to our planet and humanity. The refusal by people in power to do anything significant about the problem; the way the whistleblowers are crucified for delivering the truth; the intention of corporations to find a way to profit from it; our general anticipation that science will come along and take care of the problem in some way so that the rest of us don't have to change the way we live our lives. That's what the two guys who conceived of and wrote this movie had in mind.

Interesting. I honestly thought that the worlds technological ability could only monitor a small fraction of the overall solar system. I really don’t know much though, obviously, I just find it all fascinating. As far as religion and science goes I honestly don’t see the problem. I’m a Christian and I find the sciences to be fascinating, as I already said. A scientist who says God doesn’t exist isn’t a very wise person because science is the study of all things- and we are far from knowing all things. We are in our infancy actually. And religion is all about faith. Relying on the information that managed to survive throughout history as the be-all-end-all is just shortsighted and simply naive. Religion is so much more the words in the Bible because men wrote that book and man is not without fault. The scientific community needs to drop the know-it-all arrogance, pull their heads out of their asses and realize that the more and more we learn, we find out that pretty much anything is possible, and saying God doesn’t exist is reckless and disrespectful behavior. Their is more to life then the numbers we create can quantify. Religion also needs to wake up and know that we don’t have the whole picture and until it’s time, we probably never will. Some things just may not be for us to know. Or can know. 🤙🏻

Oh 'isn't a very wise person'... Yeah bro 4000 religions in the world... Let's all believe in the Christian one! Because... That's the "right one". Says YOU right? And btw there were already religions existing during the appearance of Jesus sooooo... It's not like even a total original religion. It draws a lot of concepts and ideas from other religions... You would know this if you.... Were wise and studied.... Being European kind of helps too because I really studied that stuff from child but.... Idk you seem to know a lot about this (sarcasm). I do leave an open space for that possibility.... Something in this Universe doesn't feel right/justifiable but I doubt it has something to do with ancient-human-made-fantasy stories. I'm not arrogant but I'm very very tired of discussing this hamster wheel centuries old ideas, so yeah it does get on my nerves. And you just proved that these ideas are were to stay for other centuries... You guys just pop out like mushrooms, the perpetual infinite ignorance... Those religious people are reallllyyyy annoying. Saying that God exists is also reckless, dumb and ignorant behavior! Ohhhh ohohoho don't throw the hot potato on me.... I see a lot of people suffering because they're indoctrinated to that miserable philosophy. They don't know how to solve problems, they are not smart to get around problems and they think that faith will be the answer/solution for everything... It's not a freaking spirit that is going to build a house and put food on their table! And praying doesn't cure illness! Some people are in the infancy of knowledge alright... Specially you! What was it?? You only read the Bible? You read it with critical thinking shut off? You read the horrors that Christianity did in the past or they left that "little" detail out? Btw if it's a "spiritual world".... How can they describe it and know it.... If NO ONE can see it????? How can they know that God and Devil exist if no one EVER saw them??? Unless they pull those stories from their as*..... Go now 'wise one'..... You got a lotttttttt of study to do

if you can define and proof by presenting evidence found in the real world, god does exist, we will talk. until then logic dictates doubt is above faith.

The biggest hinderance to settling planets is gravity. Gravity too much different than Earth's seems to cause problems. Wouldn't it be easier to settle the Solar System with O'Neil cylinders with perfect gravity for humans and use planets and asteroids for short mining stints to build more O'Neil cylinders and gather fuel (from low gravity asteroids, moons, and planets.)? Do you see any way of settling moons, planets, or asteroids if gravity cannot be controlled (for health reasons.))
