Technology has finally arrived at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. For the first time in 100 years commercial vehicles have an alternative to triangles, flame flares, or kerosine smudge pots as a warning device when stopped on the roadway. The FMCSA has provided an exemption for pi-lit® brand sequential-flashing, cloud-connected electronic flares as an alternative to the antiquated warning devices.
The pi-lit® technology is deployed worldwide by law enforcement, fire departments, utility companies, maintenance and DOT personnel, and commercial fleet operators.
On a dark, rainy night, help drivers avoid your vehicle when you are stopped on the road. Get smart: Get pi-lit® !
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is the regulatory body for commercial vehicles. The regulations define a "commercial motor vehicle" as any self-propelled or towed vehicle used on a public highway in interstate commerce to transport passengers or property when the vehicle: (1) has a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more; (2) is designed to transport more than 15 passengers, including the driver; or (3) is used to transport hazardous materials in a quantity that requires placards under federal hazardous materials regulations (49 CFR § 390.5).
