Hello! Are you a beginner curious what piano pieces you should play? Of course most of us start piano and we want to play our favorite pieces, such as Debussy’s Clair de Lune or a Chopin Nocturne - Op. 9, No. 2. But is starting with your favorite challenge piece really your best strategy? These pieces sound simple, but they’re actually quite difficult to play and require many advanced skills.
You may think you can take your time and learn slowly note by note, but is this the best strategy? You could spend months learning your 1 favorite challenge piece or perhaps instead invest that same time to learn a whole collection of piano skills through studying simpler piano pieces.
It’s similar to learning to read or even playing a video game - it’s necessary and helpful to work through the beginning levels, rather than just starting at the hardest level, which can actually be frustrating and demotivating.
So, here’s my helpful strategy I propose for you - let’s find some beautiful, enjoyable pieces designed for beginners to help you build these piano skills. To help you find these piano pieces, I am going to review 4 of Amazon’s bestselling Classical beginner books.
You can check out my method book review video for guidance on which book to use.
