Hungry Picard is the only kind of person I could sit down and have lunch with. The two of us just enjoying nothing but the ambient noise and fully committed to eating our food.

I swear I used to deal with people this way back when I was a cash courier. If I was ever asked stupid questions or someone would attempt to engage in small talk, I'd completely acknowledge them by giving them my full attention while they spoke, and then I'd just not reply and continue with what I was doing after uttering barely more than a 'hmm', a grunt, or nothing at all with a completely unchanged expression.

With the technology of Replicators and Transporters people really didn't need to eat solid food nor use the toilet. Digestible biomass could be 'beamed' into the stomach, digested, and "beamed" out of the intestines. That's why you can't find 'toilets' in the schematics. Gotta say tho, "You can have any type of sandwich ever created and you order Tuna fish with lettuce on wonder white bread?" Smack!

@@jinsu1701 Even better, there’s a private toilet in jean-luc‘s office next to the bridge. Fun thing is, it’s located behind the little corner wall where his replicator is. There’s no door dividing it from the rest of the office, so everyone entering it is bound to be attacked by a wall of the captains odor...

Why aren't they at warp?

That's a really good question. They're in a large shuttlecraft with warp engines.
@tompinkerton8099

@@djargus At that time, it was said that shuttles did not have warp, even though they have what look like warp engines on them. That was true in the original series and Next Generation. That's why Deep Space Nine introduced the runabout, a shuttle-like vessel with warp drive and weapons. Voyager kinda started ignoring all that and giving the shuttles warp.
@djargus

@@tompinkerton8099 I think you're wrong. I think dialog was just screwed up, because it would take an impossibly long time to go from A to B in space without a faster than light drive, especially in a situation where the Enterprise couldn't just drop off the captain to his destination and then go elsewhere (impression of this episode is that the Enterprise would be going out of its way if it had to drop off the captain). Only the one/two person shuttlepod doesn't have warp drive (we saw those with TNG The Most Toys and Time Squared), though some might (Lower Decks: Trusted Sources).
@jamesboulger8705

@Tom Pinkerton I can see this early in TNG being established and then forgotten. But there are too many episodes in TNG where shuttlecraft clearly have warp drive (even though scant shots from the exterior of them entering abd exiting warp) - Geordi when he's kidnapped by Romulans or Worf is returning from a Bat'leth tournament are just two examples. The runabout is just outfitted to be more self-sustaining, able to house several people for several days or weeks. It has quarters, decent replicator, more power, and engines capable of higher warp speeds.
@chrismc410

@@djargus always wondered that. Especially that shuttle. A Type 7. The shuttlepods,, Types 1-5 seen in Seasons 2 and 3 often. Type 6 and above are warp capable. From DS9's first episode onward, the Galaxy-class had in addition to the Type 6 and 7 shuttles, had three Danube-class runabouts. In fact, it was the Enterprise-D who offloaded DS9s initial three runabouts and in the TNG episode Timescape, we see one of the Enterprise-Ds runabouts in action.
