Loving your advent days. ❤I am in Australia but my husband comes from Nottingham so I have been making him his grandmother piccalilli recipe for many years and it has 7ozs of sugar and a tsp of ground ginger extra. A lot of friends request a jar every year and during the year if they run out of it. You have a lovely safe Christmas 🦘🦘Margaret

So satisfying to fill jars with something delicious. Thanks for sharing your mum's recipe. I saw a mention on U-Tube that your shop had opened so I've ordered a bag as my Christmas present. 😊 The GP has organised various blood tests which may lead to seeing a team at the hospital. He suspects I have Chronic Fatigue (since Covid in mid September). I just know I feel flattened continuously from rising until bedtime and the days I'm too tired to pick up a needle are bad days but helped by the U-Tube community and watching you and a few others always lift my spirits so thank you - and for reading and replying to my comments.

Hello Marion. Well, you have given me a wonderful giggle with this one. My grandmother made the best shortbread that I have ever tasted - and that has continued to be true for nearly 70 years. We all followed her recipe exactly through the family. But it never tasted the way hers did. Despite all the conversations we had with her about it, to make sure we were doing it properly, hers was always the best. Finally, she told me that the flavour and texture came out of her hands. I think I was her way of telling me she was fed up with all the questions. But I actually think that was the truth and it was her “essence” that flavoured it. I still make it to her recipe, and always reminisce that it isn’t quite the same as hers.

It is odd, isn't it, that you can tell who made things like that. And the taste takes you right back to when you were younger.... Hopefully we will pass on something like that with one of our recipes as we get older.

I'm curious as to how you eat your piccalilli. My mother used to make it but it was too sour for me. My mother and brother liked pickles that made the tears run down their cheeks! Not for me! Here is Maine we eat piccallili as a relish on hot dogs and hamburgers (but that comes out of a bottle at the store). Do you eat yours more like a side dish with meat? I can't imagine eating it atop a piece of bread. Such a pleasure to watch you cook and make treats for your family.
@marionsworld24
10 ай бұрын
It's definitely not sour. Not like gherkins or anything. Really I'd eat it alongside some cheese or with cold meats. But it's so lovely my brothers and sister and I just used to make sandwiches out of it and have the yellow sauce dribbling down our chins! A relish on hot dogs sounds perfect too...but I imagine the one you are talking about is smooth.

Hi, Marion! I really enjoyed watching you make piccalilli. My husband and I used to make dill pickles with his mom’s recipe. Well, he began adding more salt to the brine. I couldn’t eat those extra-salty pickles, though our daughter loved them (like her dad). Once, we put up cherries we picked in Door County. If you look at Wisconsin on a map, it looks like a mitten. The mitten’s thumb is Door County. The peninsula has a perfect climate for cherries. I like your apron. The New York Times has a word game called Spelling Bee. Whenever the game included the letters p i n and y, I’d try pinny. It never took until recently. Yay! I want a bag. How do I find your store? Can you put a link to it in your next videos? Thank you, dear Marion. It’s lovely to be with you. 💜💜💜
