If each 5 meter roll is 2 amps at 12v dc, then each roll is 24 watts. for 5 rolls (20 meters) you would need a power supply greater than 120 watts. The next thing to consider is voltage drop when running this much lighting. You'll need to loop wire or power individual rolls to prevent uneven lighting.

This shit is really crazy... I was naive to think LED's were low power and I could just daisy chain a bunch of them... ordered some strips on Ebay and a power supply... now I need to buy an amp for each strip... and now even with the amps I don't think I bought a big enough power supply. Well this is pretty annoying.

Typically LED light bulbs and tubes are going to be 120 volt and would require line voltage from a wall outlet as opposed to a power supply. What voltage are the fixtures?

Can a power adapter that meets the voltage and current output requirements be used? Such as a 12V 4Amp adapter from some other electric device be used to power a 48Watt strip of led lights? .

Hello, I want to build a test bench for LED light bulbs and tubes which would be able to test about 30 LEDs at the same time. What kind of power supply would be the most adapted for this application ?

I don't get one thing: There are several power supplys with 3 wires and several with two wires. I have one with two wires (V- black and V+ red) ... but which one is going to connect do the GND pin of the LED strip?

I have 20meters (5m x 4) Led strips ( 12v 2A each) This means i have to get a Power Supply above 48W? I am planing on combining all of the strips together to form a 20m

So if I have a DC 5V 60A 300W PSU and two strips of LEDs (WS2812B ) 5V with a total of 300 neopixels would this blow my lights?

I have a led light with no information but just labeled 12v. My power supply has labeled 12v 2a. And this power supply heats as hell, I want to change it but dont have enough information about the led strip. Can you suggest me what's next?

So, if i have 4 LED strips that I want to put toghet in one PS. They are each 12v/5a which I calculated to be 60 watts each. so for 4 that would be 240, and I'd like to be safer and do a possible 300 or 400 watt power supply right? my question is...how would I wire it up??? this is confusing! lol

Is there any particular reason that I shouldn't use an old 380watt Antec Earthwatts PSU I have laying around to power my 12v LED stirps? Seems like it would be a solid choice since it's a quality supply and already has a built in fan; plus it's capable of supplying way more than enough current on the 12v rail than I would ever need for my LED strips.

That's what I do..works great. But they're selling expensive power supplies here, so they're not going to tell you to do that.

I am curious. My LED dimmable driver says Max 13W, but says Output is 36V DC and Max 260Ma. By multiplying 36V and 0.26A I only get 9.3W...why 13W Max ? How does one calculate this and stay safe?

I have a question, say I have a 5M roll of 3014smd requiring a 50 watt power source, but Im not using the 5m whole instead using 5 1m pieces on 5 different applications. What would I need for each 1m piece?
