In thai culture, the hard, crunchy and sour would go great with salt or fish sauce and thai chilies paste.

I think the peaches are just a bonus as the tree is eye-catchingly awesome. Fruit would normally be ready so much earlier, so seeing the tree so full of healthy leaves is wonderful. As the tree grows, the fruit will improve, it is 'built' far to densely for fruit at this point. As it grows and opens up, you can tend to the fruit properly, allowing light and movement of sugars as required. Given that you only have a few at this point, you could quarter/ segment them and simmer them in a syrup, then add alcohol (cognac) to spirit them for Christmas. As you get more fruit, as the collection evolves, you could do a Brett's onw Rumtopf - with rum that time! ( I ate 3 Asian pears today - blinging lovely)

Those were the only 4 fruit left, the others went bad and dropped off last week. I believe it is meant to stay compact and very dense, it is after all a dwarf patio peach. I did buy it purely for ornamental purposes but if it produces a few half edible fruit it would be a bonus. I got it extremely late for a bare root plant, late April I think so I think it had been held back in a chiller rather like they do with many plants for the Chelsea flower show. I think once established that it might flower earlier and potentially fruit better 🤞

@@lyonheart84 Even though I have seen these advertised in many a catalogue, I think you had a winner in terms of overall shape, health and structure. The tree will grow, maybe encourage a sort of peacock tail form, it could end up some 1M tall in a few years, it looks solid. Watch the spider mite the ******got to mine this summer.

Sounds like the description of a peach from woolies here also. Good it will have a cooking use as well as being ornamental

My 2 peach trees are struggling to fruit in my zone 4 so i am thinking about a bonfire or something alike so i can pott n move into my garage for winter protection but i was also worried about the taste of the fruit i just hate anything that is tart or nuetral taste.

No knowledge of growing them in zone 4 , maybe they need to be grown in greenhouse in your area to protect them in winter and the spring flowers ?

Hallo Brett, my both peaches didn’t do well out doors, I did cover them the second year because of peach leaf curl, do I need to put them indoors ? And I have another question about mealy bugs, my indoor plants have got mealy bugs, and have killed few plants, what is the best solution, if you know please? And another question about cherry fruits , I had my cherry tree for 20 years, but for last couple of years there is a lot of fruit fly , wasted all the cherries, I tried so many things, didn’t work, now I am thinking to cut down the tree to a manageable size, if you have any ideas please let me know. Many thanks Brett.

If you have a shed or somewhere out of rain to keep your peach trees from November to March you should avoid the worst of leaf curl as the spores are carried in winter rain. I wash mealy bugs off my plants with warm soapy ( washing up liquid ) water in a spray gun. I find 2 or 3 repeat treatments ( take the plants outside ) seems to get rid of them quickly and washes the plant as well. Sorry I don’t know anything about cherries but I’d assume you can spray them at the right time of the year

Pick them before they are dead ripe. Let them ripen on the counter.

Thanks Kathleen, generally it’s not considered to be a very palatable peach, really grown for ornamental purposes. The fruit size is also probably restricted by being grown in a container. I’ve just repotted it in a larger container

That’s how I like my peaches! When they ripen almost on the tree, then leave on the counter to let it get mushy.

@Sanchez96d yes peaches are always best picked at near peak ripeness. Shop bought peaches here are usually pretty poor lol. This is not a good eating variety, it’s more for ornamental purposes 😁

Lol they were going bad and had bugs in as well, no point leaving them lying around, I ate a couple of mouthfuls and threw the rest away, it isn't really a variety grown for edible fruit, it's purely ornamental

@lyonheart84

Actually wasn’t reallydry but it was planted too late in the year to develop properly plus we’ve had a very cold Summer and this is an ornamental variety. Even a good variety would have struggled this Summer. Don’t forget I’ve got a flat nectarine for decent fruit in 2 or 3 years time 😁
