You gotta love the idiot rookie rider calling out “grab the brake” when the instructor is on the left side of the bike. I practice this technique, and always reach down with my hand and put it in gear first before trying to bring her back upright.

I remember I had to resort to watching this video when I was 14 😂😂 My dad had just bought a nice big gold wing. Next day, he goes to work, and so I jumped on it because I’d never sat on a bike that big before I tipped it over, and couldn’t figure out how to get it back up… Thanks to this video, my dad never found out, and i was spared an ass whoopin. 😂

Great stuff. I'm 6'1" and 270 lbs and have been able to use the grab bar and hold the handlebar and do it that way. However, I'm getting older and using my legs rather than my back is a great technique. Thanks for posting.

Never EVER use your back, it'll give an injury or a very nasty crack. Even in gym to do deadlifts, using the back is a no-no. In proper deadlift form, there's next to none force on spine and back. The real power comes from hips, core and legs.

I keep a "Tie wrap" around my Fluid reservoir, then I wrap it around the end of the brake lever & the handle bar holding the front brake on, excellent Emergency brake.

To prevent the bike from rolling, If its not in gear, you can also turn the key to on...then push the REVERSE button. This will lock the wheel & the bike will not roll.

The first thing you do is put the bike in gear that way it doesn't roll and ensure that you kickstand or is down or you are in a position to put it down when on the left side of the bike when it falls to the opposite side put the kick stand down first and back in gear so it doesn't roll

@@philspaces7213 Ahh.. sounded like you were doggin' Don. These 800# bikes can't be uprighted with one hand. And the folks saying 'put it in gear' seems to not realize where that stubby little shifter is, and what it takes to move it. The 'reverse switch' is always a good option for 'parking brake' in such an emergency. Thanks for clarification.

LOL ....damn Gold Wings are so wide they almost don't look down when they ARE down! I always wanted one but my wife has a cyborg spine after being hit by a drunk driver so things like motorcycling are out of the question (big ol stainless fixture holds her head to her spine these days).....SO I mean what is the point of a GoldWing one up? .....seems to me the whole point of the beast IS two up long distance touring....no? I mean I could look for a girl friend but my wife is death with her pistol (man is she a good shot!)....So Gold Wings for me are just one more thing I might do in some alternate reality than this un!

fascinating that there are so many videos on picking up dropped Goldwing's. Kinda tells you something about the high and unstable center of gravity of this line of bike. Great road bike, the worst low speed, most unstable bike ever made. You don't see dozens, or maybe hundreds of videos on how to right other bikes. Just Goldwings. Says something about the engineering. I own one, and have for years run a shop that does auto and motorcycle mechanical, restoration and service.

The problem with the goldwing is that it can weigh over 400kg, so it's the final boss of bikes to pick up. And unlike the rune there is a considerable amount on the road.

There is so many videos because there are soooooo many GW's out there. They are very well balanced but yes, they are very heavy.(900 lbs) At slow or no speed you have to maintain the balance so there is some skill needed to not drop it.. The crash bars protect it very well but you need to know the technique to lift it. A 90 lb woman can lift it if done correctly. Yes, I do own one.
