I'd check out the early years from Sergei Dratchev's (Heavy Haul Tv) when he did both flatbed & step deck trailers. He has Great advice on how to do a lot of stuff with them. You can also see how he slowly progressed from flatbed to his currant 60 ton Fontaine RGN trailer set up. Great videos to show the learning curve with the Trucks & Trailers He went thru. But He's found his "Niche" and is making good money with it. P.S. All his "advice" is free from someone who knows his business. Not like know-it-all RVT!

That overhang on the rear of the trailer renders it useless. Get a 53ft tridem step deck. Aluminum tandem trailers are garbage, especially if it's got a single slider with tool boxes in between the tires. Nothing but tire and axle alignment issues. Aluminum trailers get twisted up during loading and un loading. Best trailer have steel rails with a little arch to them. Aluminum sags and will make loads bounce around

Great content, I agree that charging money for knowledge that you got for free is morale wrong...even if people are willing to pay. I have helped many people, who have offered to pay and I agree in paying things forward.

Real nice trailer, stay safe, I’d rather do step deck any day I just try o stay away from tarp loads and I’ve pretty much did it all. I did 8 car hauling, hated it, hazmat tanker, the cops always messing with you, heavy haul permits too big a hassle, dry van I don’t like waiting

You should have the yellow safety binders. You also need 4” ratchet binders. If you’re going to do equipment, get some ratchet chain binders. If you don’t have flatbed experience, find a mentor.

Thank you for the advice. I plan on getting the 4 inch portable ratchets. Far as the yellow safety binders, I have ratchet and snap binders. Aren’t really sure what yellow safety binders you’re referring to. And couldn’t agree more on the mentor. I’ve got one who I talk to daily. Every load I pick up, I call and ask his approach if I have any doubts at all. He’s been a ton of help.

The yellow chain binders are the safety binders. They are safer to open.

I’ll look into them. There’s only a couple types I’ve seen. The snap and the ratchet. I have seen some very expensive yellow binders at the oak grove Petro. They looked different than any other binder and cost 150 bucks each. Lol. If those are the ones you’re talking about, I’ll stick with the ratcheting kind.

The Friendly Grumpy Trucker the supplier you mentioned has them a lot cheaper. You need moving blankets too. Or pieces of tarp. You need this for padding under your tarps for sharp edges. Make sure to stock up on patching material and glue. You’re going to need it for the tarps. When securing loads, make sure to alternate the pull on the load. If hauling loads with layers such as pipe, secure each layer. Especially he bottom layer. That’s the foundation of the load. Even use belly straps or gut straps. Ask your mentor. He should know. There is no such thing as an over secured load.

Yes sir, absolutely. I’ve not hauled the layered loads yet, but I’ve seen a lot of the gut strapping and belly strapping. Right now I’m on my 5th or 6th load. Hopefully I’ll get an update video soon. But I’ve been religiously alternating straps to create the even pull with my securement. ESPECIALLY with the load I’m currently on. A load of stacked utility trailers.

I disagree, if you can secure accurate conaistant advice why not pay. Free means ill talk to you when I can, which might be tomorrow or next week. This a business. Also if im correct RVT does business and new drivers advice, basically researching for people don't want to put in the work
