Once on my life, Love has come to me, and, for unreasonable things that happen, I did let it go. And since, my life turned to be a constant fight between sadness, tears and the obligation of survive, for who knows what amount of time. Vivaldi and Fournier demonstrates here all of my feelings since then. I need to have a fierce amount of courage to hear this piece without falling on tears. But God gave me the ability to be a pianist, so I can express myself and have some relief. Thank you for posting this, I need to have this on my collection because it is too important to me.

Just to clarify things for non-cellists: this work is not a concerto. It is the fifth in Vivaldi's set of six sonatas for cello and basso continuo. In the present recording, the sonata has been fitted out with a (not-very-Baroque) orchestral accompaniment.

This may not correspond to present taste. However, I am certainly not alone to feel that the wishy washy baroque play which is heard most of the time nowadays, just provides lesser emotion at uncertain profit. Please listen to the 3rd movement (largo) in any modern version, and you will get a vibrant confirmation of this delusion of mine.

Nothing wrong with this interpretation, just different. Lets all open our ears to the music and not get hung up on authenticity . The masters all reworked their pieces all the time so who knows what the definitive version is. It's sincere and respectful and sounds like beautiful music to me. Enjoy........ 👍

Just learning this masterpiece. This performance is my tutor! A mixture of romantic and baroque. But just right - it truly hits the spot. Thank you. Not faultless - but very genuine. I love it.

Question de goût simplement. Cordialement
