That is so awesome - 12 little piglets! I remember my first sight of birth - I was about 8 years old and had a maxi cat that I was calling to come eat. When she showed up she started to have a baby (I did not know she was pregnant) so I go running to my mom saying something was wrong with Blackie and some sort of animal was on her. My mom came out and started laughing at me and explained Blackie was ok and that she was giving birth to a baby.

I love Jill and Whispering Willow! So glad for the referral awhile back when you were talking about Jill giving you kombucha tips. I’m waiting for my etsy kombucha kit to arrive! You two are peas in a pod ... sisters of the heart ❤️! You are both my go to ports in a storm, my escape, where I dream and live vicariously through you both! I’m in my sixties now, and hubs says we’re too old to homestead, but I can dream! God bless you both! P.S., so glad Malia (sp) got to be there for the farrowing!

I’m surprised the moms let you that close! When I was in college (Warren Wilson, which runs it’s own farm to feed the students) I once witness a girl nearly get pinned to a fence by an angry mama Berkshire. We pasture raised and had several mamas in a pasture with little metal Quonset huts for them and the babies. One of the farm crew girls was in the pasture checking on a sow that had just given birth and one of the other mama sows charged her and tried to pin her to the fence. Luckily the girl very quickly hopped over the fence, but it was a tense situation!

This doesn't have anything to do with pig births (unless you count bacon). I just went to your website and read a few articles. One of which was your post on egg pie. We ate a lot of quiche when my two oldest were growing up since we also always had eggs. My children always called it "egg pizza". Brought back good memories.
