I was wondering yesterday, when you were looking for a moveable shade area, why you didn't just use the pig port. It was already there but I guess it was due to the lack of sides. Glad to see it worked so well. Also glad the greens worked so well, hopefully they turn out great for your family in the long run.

The way you’re doing the collards will work we’ve always frozen them but we used freezer bags. I always freeze the left overs and I can eat them during the summer because they’re really a fall crop. When you cook them you don’t have to fry the bacon first we actually use salt pork and you start it boiling in the pot while they’re being washed cook them in broth. Smoked Turkey is really delicious cooked in them also. Put some minced garlic, cayenne pepper to taste. The pepper is only if you’re family will eat it. Add some beef bouillon I use old bay seasoning also or just a bit of salt. Cook till tender. I’ve started canning them instead of freezing them. I can so much that we have them all year round. Trust me the family will love them make sure you get them tender. My grandmother would put a tiny bit of sugar to help if they’re bitter don’t make them sweet. When you eat them put some cut onions and hot sauce on them. Also make some cornbread gotta have cornbread with them.

@@fionaworrell4535 i've learned that's not true bc exolates are a crystal that attach to CALCIUM in our bones and joints AND cooking destroys the vitamins by that same heat, but not much of the oxolates. And those vitamine are enveloped in the fibers, those same fibers are INSOLUABLE in our human gut, it's just too SHORT. Herbivores have that gut long enough for the fibers to get the bacterie enough TIME to upcycle those fiber in proteïne and fats that are essential for our life as humans. Black TEA, black pepper, spinach, kale and many other vegg are also very high in oxolates. Another idea for an abundance of collards is to cut them up, clean them and freeze without cooking them. You can put them in a slow cooker/ crockpot using your recipe but 4 to 8 hours depending on the cooking device.

I prefer canning greens. I always planned for 2 years worth of collards, lambsquarter, turnip in jars on good years just in case next year is off. 1 qt of packed jar of greens is about right for your family as a side. 2 if you have company. AND canning isn't much different than what you're doing now, assuming you cooked the collards vs just blanched before freezing. 7 Qts per usual home canner. I used old washer to wash a bushel or two of greens easily. Greens get a little bruised but you're gonna be boiling them down in a few mins. Cleans large amounts very well.

Freezing your collards, I would pack them in pint or quart bags, because you can lay them flat and they would waste less room. You could still suck seal after freezing for the ones you think will be over 6 months in the freezer (ise tje storage quarts if suck sealing, they are cheaper). I only suck seal 6 months plus.

Hi Justin, would you ever consider as an experiment raising 2-3 pigs on 0 grain and instead fruit/skim milk/ruminant organs like the intestine etc that you dont eat? Maybe a smaller breed so its not as hectic. I am curious how much firmer the fat would be. When pigs eat grain, their fat is unsaturated, just like seed oils, and just as prone to going rancid when heated or cooked.
@charleeghee7195
6 күн бұрын
That would be a great experiment. Grain fed pigs and even chickens have more omega 6 -linoleic acid which is in all the processed foods so our bodies have too much of it, very unhealthy, it raises inflammation. We need less of this and more omega 3 - alpha-linolinic acid which lowers inflammation. Iis in abundance in fatty fish, wild game and pastured grass fed animals.
@jessicah7247
6 күн бұрын
@@charleeghee7195 Omegas are prone to becoming rancid because they are unsaturated. This is the case with fat from fish as well. The reality is that we don't need them at all-- We produce our own extremely stable omegas called Mead acid, or omega 9. Fish are unsaturated because water is cold, if they were saturated the fat would freeze up and they couldn't move. Ruminants are some of the healthiest meat/dairy specifically because they turn unsaturated fat from grass into saturated with enzymes and bacteria in their gut. People who eat a lot of omegas tend to have lipofuscin, or oxidised unsaturated fats stored with oxidised/rusted iron, which makes a ton of dark spots on the skin. Not the same as freckles. You especially see them on the elderly that take fish oil supplements or eat a lot of food with unsaturated oils.
@charleeghee7195
5 күн бұрын
@@jessicah7247 There seem to be a little difference of opinion of the omega 3s and omega 6s not being essential. All my research says they are. However, not in excess and especially not an overabundence of omega 6s. The ratio should be 1 to 1. Whereas omega 9 is not essential to consume because our body can make them. There are many sources stating this. I'm curious where did you get the idea that omega 3s and 6s are not essential???
@jessicah7247
5 күн бұрын
@@charleeghee7195 All of those studies I think are very flawed. Lots of monetary interest in pushing those things from the fish oil industry and vegetable oil industry (not saying you are part of it) all the same, which misleads people on their dangers. The idea that they are not essential is demonstrated in how volatile and prone to decomposing the moment they are at anything above a cool temperature, including entering your body. There are many studies showing that animals depleted of these fats not only replace them with endogenous Mead acid, but are also far more resistant to all forms of trauma and brain deterioration, as well as having better intelligence overall. Poly-unsaturated fats are what cause arterial plaque, because they oxidate and then calcify in the arteries. Fish are not people, they live in cold environments, hence why they need them. Tropical shore and reef fish are typically lean, so they need far less of the unsaturated fats. Bears eat a lot of fish approaching winter, to enter torpor/hibernation, because omegas slow the metabolism so much. Personally, I have stayed away from as much unsaturated fat (including limiting fatty fish, which I no longer like to eat, I can taste the fat going rancid and can smell it when it cooks) as possible, and I feel much healthier than I did a few years ago. I will eat lean wild shrimp, especially because of the zinc. Skin burns less, lipofuscin has gone away largely, and I have less brain fog.

KZitem provides great detailed information regarding audience demographics, view times , shares, etc. to creators, which allows them to shape their content in a fashion that is most well received by viewers and advertisers. It’s a business generating far more income than the farm itself therefore, if a content creator is savvy, they will continue to analyze the information and construct their content accordingly to make it algorithm friendly.
