When I first saw this when I was 5, I thought it was boring and stupid. But now that I'm older and understand it more, I have one thing to say--this cartoon is hilarious! 5/5

My mom had a book from high school that was for her American Literature class, and this story was in it. It was a fantastic textbook, much better than anything we have now (she went to high school in the 1930's). My teenage brother ruined it by drawing pictures of phalluses (phalli?) in every illustration of a person. He was obsessed with his schlong. He was a hippie, like all my older siblings were.

For those of you wondering why McMorehouse was upset at the price, the reason is this: 44¢ in 1905 is worth $13.68 today while 48¢ is worth $14.92 today. It's a difference of 4¢ back then (which would be equivalent to $1.24 today) but $1.24, while it doesn't seem much to us, back then would be equivalent to $38.55 today. Also, they made a mistake. The domestic guinea pig, the one that Flannery was holding, is the Cavia porcellus, not the Cavia aperea which is the Brazilian guinea pig.

You'll notice too that it's a Scotsman who is making the fuss, because the Scottish are well known for their parsimony and bein' "near with a dollar" or "tight". Scotch Tape was called that because it was a great bargain, and it used to have a cartoon of a Scotsman winking on it, I seem to recall.

When I was a kid I watched this and thought it was OK because it was a Disney cartoon. Now as an adult I'm enjoying it for both the dialogue and the social commentary.

Seriously, did the book on their care not state quite clearly that guinea pigs are rodents and not real pigs? Do your homework, people!

Why do I feel like killing Guinea Pigs whenever I see this cartoon? Or at least introducing them to wildcats with frying pans:)
@ErykaSoleil

schizoidboy : Why would that be your response? 😱 Just separate male and female; it's super easy to tell them apart by just flipping them over and looking. (Seriously, you really cannot miss which ones are boys.)

@pytko3 hmmmm...no. I was making a reference to the nation's Capital because of one little misunderstanding that would become caught up in ''red tape.'' No offence to anyone. It just reminds me of something that would happen there. Example:"Are Tomatoes Fruits or Vegitables?" That sort of issue.
