Nice video. I had a question about engaging the core during Pilates, and you answered it - plus the final comment about not engaging the core all day versus posture was a bonus answer, too. Thank you!

How about your neck hurting doing abs workout
@wearelindywell
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph - we encourage you to always listen to your body and modify (or skip) certain exercises based on your needs and comfort level. For example, you can keep your head on the mat or rested in your hands for certain exercises rather than keep your head and neck lifted off the mat.

What about during pregnancy? I already feel like I'm losing that ability to engage but I feel like I need to be able to keep that to keep core strong throughout.

Hi Julie! You can absolutely continue to work on engaging and strengthening your core muscles during pregnancy. Because everyone and every pregnancy is so different though, we do always encourage you to listen to your body and modify as needed and speak with your medical provider if you have specific questions or concerns. Have you checked out our Prenatal Pilates Program? The program is designed specifically for all trimesters - will link to it below if you are interested! thebalancedlifeonline.com/product-category/programs/

Hi! It's hard to pinpoint exactly because there are various factors and everyone is so different, but one possibility is that because the body releases the "stress hormone" during exercise, it can affect water retention/fluid levels and bloating - especially if you are developing a new workout routine.

Hi Deborah! Some things that you can try that might help are making sure you're staying hydrated, breathing in through your nose (swallowing less air through your mouth), and consider experimenting with reducing intake of high fiber foods. 🙂 And continue with Pilates as long as it is helping you feel good!
