The reason why, they don’t attack each other with their beaks, is because they know what damage they can do, and so they don’t risk exchanging blows, because they could both be wounded enough to stop them from flying, and many creatures who are well armed, act in a similar manner…….

@@kristinaketelsen5797 . There’s very few animals, which can deal a death blow, with their very first blow(unlike these incredibly sharp, and fully hardened piercing beaks, which are designed to hit so hard, that if it wasn’t for their amazing tongues, they’d kill themselves with their first full on hit on a tree), and not only that, most of the animals that we class as being deadly, don’t usually fight, they tend to just square up to each other, and one backs down, because, if they don’t backdown, then they will be too damaged and/or too dead, to get the chance to pass on their DNA 🧬, that season or ever again, which would mean that the whole of their species would die out……

I remember witnessing two squirrels fighting in my back yard. It was more brutal than I'd imagined. One had a bloodied nose and was so exhausted it collapsed in the grass in my back yard - it was so beat up it even allowed me and my cat to approach it. I let the little guy rest while the other squirrels chittered from a nearby tree. My cat just sat there watching with me, by the way. The blooded squirrel finally got his second wind and ran in to a different tree.

Seriously, the hybridization of traits between the avian, and reptilian are always fascinating to ponder. I’ve even wondered how far back mammalian traits like ‘whiskers’, and even the primordial precursor to fur may have arisen, likely in the Permian, with the Stem-mammals. We have a couple of creatures, species and lifeforms here that are a very similar looking snapshots of the distant past. Convergent evolution and repeating niches, roles, forms and patterns in nature always hint at the subtleties of intelligent design, to me.
