Pilot assist is a semi-autonomous driving feature that uses radar guided cruise control to control speed and maintain a set distance along with steering the wheel. It still requires you to keep your hands on the wheel but reduces workload.
If you use this effectively it will help for long journeys. It can also help in reducing workload while with potential distractions like your infotainment system.
The video is shot in an XC40 Recharge with the Google infotainment system but an explanation of how to do this in the Sensus infotainment system is also included.
CORRECTION: Thanks to viewers for mentioning this, and it should have been better explained in the video. Spaces and distance with the cars in front are controlled by time. They will therefore increase in distance with increased speed
