I was a BWI OPS agent back in 2001-2004. The 700s used to seat 137 but then they made it 146 seats which made the rows tighter. They need to go back to that configuration and even take a row out of the 800s. Not everyone is the optimal 5'7. SWA needs to be able to accommodate the taller passengers without them being uncomfortable.

Yes assigned seating would be so beneficial, makes the boarding process more efficient and less chaotic. Even board back to front so less people waiting to pass others as they get there seat and would better help with overhead bin space to fill them back to front as well. Or you could do all window first then middle then aisle.

I use to love the SWA experience, however, I recently flew SWA, Delta & AA. Delta & AA offered free in seat entertainment with a USB and extra legroom (I'm 6'). On business trips I want to pick my seat. SWA also needs to get control of the pre-board abuse. My SWA flight had 15 pre-boards, Delta & AA had 3. Why pay for business select when the first 5-8 rows are taken up with pre-boards.

Thanks for the updates Ern, I’m in pilot training right now (working on CFI), and the recent hiring pauses gave me some concern, but your videos have been the reason why I started training and your realistic optimism help to keep me going!

Love your channel. We’re loyal SW customers and love the old system. Extra leg room for extra $ means less leg room for the rest of the plane. Most people that say they won’t fly SW because of open seating don’t understand the system.

flying from STL to SEA in September and I usually pay the extra for auto login to section A. I hope they don't change a bunch before that but SWA is my favorite when we have to fly commercial. I'm a pilot and we usually fly our Cherokee 6 places but that's a long flight from AR, lol Thanks Big E

Southwest needs to deal with early boarding. They should get seated in the back of the plane to cut down on early boarding without a legit disability.

The biggest mistake Southwest makes is that they allow folks who are continuing on in the same aircraft to stay on board and not have to deplane. Sometimes this can lead to a significant number of people already boarded before even the A1-A15 folks board, which greatly cheapens the value of paying extra to board earlier. If you're going to sell options for early boarding, you have to provide an empty cabin for those folks to board. Also, I think that Boeing is moving in the right direction. They recently received TIA approval for the 777x and have settled in court. Boeing is 100 years old, they will have ebbs and flows as their leadership comes and goes, as does any company. I'm not sure that bashing Boeing for prioritizing profits is fair. If profits are not prioritized by any company, they are quickly out of business. Companies exist to make profit. To say that they need to be an engineering led company is not the answer. If engineers ran the company you would have the world's greatest aircraft, but they would be so expensive no one would buy. If you simply let finance people lead, then the quality may slightly suffer, but the aircraft will sell because they can be priced competitively. Obviously, neither approach is ideal. Boeing needs to find the sweet spot between financial solvency and engineering prowess. Every single Boeing employee needs to be held accountable from the toilet cleaner to the CEO. Accountability is the answer and will turn Boeing around. I wish them well, because as passengers, we NEED Boeing to perform well.

People love to complain about Southwest's boarding process, but by the end of the day it seems quicker than any other airline. I hate the other airlines' precious metals and minerals boarding group process (unless I am in the first group of course). Hopefully SW will steer away from this methodology.

Still, LOVE your videos 🤣👍....
