I bought this as a gift for my friend kzitem.infoUgkxcZqgZ8Ynkiz5n_LxIWRlAicuzmz5kCHG who is just starting out in the world of wood work. He loves it!! There is a great section on different wood and what to use for what kind of job and a similar section for tools as well. The projects in it are things you probably would have a go at with clear instructions, pictures, videos and diagrams throughout. Great for a beginner/amateur wood worker.

Great job. I think the clients choose well, leaving the wood in its natural colour. Looks lighter and less oppressive. It's kind of trendy here as well, it's associated with typical Scandinavian furniture, which is often very minimalistic and clean looking, and made from lightcoloured wood.

I've noticed you often make table saw cuts where the distance from the fence to the blade is greater than the length of the cut. Like at 1:07 in this video. I understand that to be a pretty high-risk practice. But you obviously know what you're doing and wouldn't do it if you didn't know it to be safe for you. I'd be interested to hear how you think through those kinds of safety considerations and why you feel safe doing it. Genuinely asking, not trying to criticize! :)
@KingPostTimberWorks
7 жыл бұрын
+Grant Trotter hmm good question. So my drop saw cuts 300mm so in theory i can cut 600mm by flipping the panel. That's a bit of a pain in the arse and ok for 1 cut. Doing multiple cuts the same is best on the table saw. I find it's ok if your in the middle third of a long panel. I can push evenly on both side always being hyper aware of what's happening. Cutting a small amount off a long panel is much harder I find and will someone else to hold the end of the panel as push it through. I guess it's just an experience thing knowing what I can get away with and being as safe as possible . Anyhow I will no longer have this problem as of this time next week when I take delivery of a new sliding panel saw!

In my area it is prett hard to find pine ply that is even decent quality so my go to has been lower end birch ply. Quality is much higher than the pine play from big box store and only about $5 more per 4x8. I like using ply. I know a lot of people don't like it but for beginners like me, as well a people on budgets like me the ply is great. Truthfully as long as there are no voids I even like the look of the edging, especially when doubled up on thickness. But I know I'm in the minority there. Great job. I'm sure your clients were very pleased.
@KingPostTimberWorks

+BronkBuilt ply is actually pretty popular here especially ply kitchens where the ply edge Is left exposed. Nothing wrong with ply if that's what you want to use. Just like anything else, if you like it , it's all good.

It must be destiny, I am going to build a wardrobe as you know from my other comments and just an instant I spotted this video we ( girlfriend) were talking about the same type of cupboard and what wood to use. In fact the issue here in the UK pine ply is hard to come by, birch is easier but a good grade like BB is not cheap. Then I would dye/stain it, although I hear you have to use a pre stain conditioner first otherwise its blotchy otherwise :(. Again good video
