A Teagasc conference, in association with Maynooth University and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) on ‘Pine Weevil Integrated Pest Management’ was held on 4 May 2022 at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore, Co Offaly, Ireland.
It focused on current issues with Pine Weevils in Irish forestry and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) options for controlling the pest.
The event included talks from Irish and UK experts on a number of topics including Pine Weevil IPM, reforestation and continuous cover forestry, pesticide registration, regulations and future outlooks, pine weevil forecasting and the UK experience.
Anne-Marie Dillon, Head of the Pesticide Control Division of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine discusses pesticide regulation, the Sustainable Use Directive (SUD), Integrated Pest Management and future outlooks in the area.
