As Syd was going crazy Gilmour stepped up to the plate and Floyd flew into legends
@notapplicable328
4 жыл бұрын
He wasn’t necessarily just going crazy he just didn’t want to be in a giant band. Listen to some of the things roger talks about in wish you were here, especially have a cigar. I think he was talking about the entire band, but especially syd since he was the kind of main reason for that album. He was run pretty ragged from touring while he was in the Floyd not to mention the obvious psychedelic abuse mixed with pretty serious schizophrenia and didn’t want to be apart of Pink Floyd cause he could feel the thing he created growing to be bigger than he ever imagined.

Samuel Brockett He was he tripped out once to often and had a complete mental breakdown. His sister looked after him. He was not the man I saw in the 60’s in the Marquee club. There is a video about this. Sid was a troubled genius very sad. It the interview with the other members they acknowledged he started it all. Hence the songs Wish you were here and Shine on you crazy diamond. The lyrics in shine tell some of the story
@notapplicable328

Classicracer Uk yep they do. I’m not completely convinced he went totally insane. The rest of his life he seemed happier and continued to make some incredible paintings i really think he was trying to find a way out of the band. It’s not like after he left they cut all ties with him either. David Gilmore was instrumental in releasing his two solo albums and Richard Wright helped a lot as well. I believe that “he tripped himself to insanity” is kind of over blown
@classicraceruk1337
4 жыл бұрын
Samuel Brockett He did have some mental problems but the band did say eyes like black holes in the sky. It was not his fault and the rest of the band admitted at the time they did not help much. Was a real shame he was a talented guy

@@classicraceruk1337 Many highly and suddenly successful bands (even now) have huge break ups due to the stress of constant touring / sales etc. Its not surprising really that some musicians are just not tough enough to stay the course. They are just too Fragile (geniuses too)

I heard an early,rare Floyd song many years ago. It was slightly over 6 minutes long,sung by Rick or Roger,had a baroque style pipe organ, a psychedelic middle 8 guitar solo,perhaps from David,melodic and upbeat ,a young love theme,with snippets of lyrics that went;"AS WE DANCE.,"STILL WE DANCE",and,i i think,"PICTURES IN TIME NOW THAT MOMENTS ARE ALIVE"(?).Does anyone know any song that comes close to this?
