Would love you to do Mother as well, but the Sinead O'connor version she does with Roger Waters from 1990 in Berlin (a concert that had over 350,000 people). That is one of Pink Floyd's top emotional songs that will blow you both away

Enjoyed your reaction , as usual. Great job. I think the difference with Pink Floyd is that……most bands write songs about love, relationships, or situations…..but, Pink Floyd writes songs about “the human condition”. They write about….memories, feelings (other than love) and life (everyday normal life). That’s why they get into your head and your heart….because we all have these same feelings and situations that shape who we are, and how we handle and react to situations in our lives. The other thing about PF is…..they were never about “getting a big hit on the radio”. They were artists, not just musicians.

Pink Floyd is the cerebral band of rock. This song, to me, describes our typical life span. When we are young and have 30,000 days of life left (approx) waisting a day or two is not important, so we fritter and waist the days away. By the end of the song, now we are old, retired and relaxing in our chair beside the fireplace. Next comes our funeral; "far away, across the field, the tolling of the iron bell (church) calls the faithful to their knees to hear the softly spoken magic spell." (Priest giving the funeral sermon) Roger Waters was in his late 20s' when he wrote those lyric! That in itself is mind blowing! This song is one that we tend to appreciate more the older we become. I am 73 and Waters has this 'spot on'!

I can't speak for those people who don't get Pink Floyd, whether out of ignorance, or a lack of maturity, or just the plain honest reality that they are just not of the type who gets it, whatever that type can be defined by. But, I can speak for those of us who do get Pink Floyd, and just so you know, we know those thoughts and feelings that words don't do justice in conveying, that you search for, we know. There is beauty even in the unease we sense when listening. There is understanding, a lucidity. So much of the ether is captured and encapsulated in the sounds and rhythms, the words giving a nudge towards the desired conclusion but yet not the driver of that journey entirely. They are on another level, not in musicianship per se, but on connectivity, and their musicianship is masterful too, but it is that connectivity that is truly unique.

It's a sequence of symptoms, of behaviors which reveal, manifest a state of mind, a way of thinking, and a certain way of reacting, present in a person who listens to Pink Floyd. Unfortunately or (fortunately), this syndrome is INCURABLE, you will have to live with it for the rest of your life.

You are experiencing true genius. Both musically and lyrically, and their live light shows were as incredible as their music. You really must listen to Dark Side of the Moon as a complete work, like a modern day rock symphony with various movements to the whole piece. It tells a story from first breath at the beginning, to a nightmare of fear of flying and crashing and burning, then the listener is rudely awakened by the alarm clock sounds - then Time - then the next song you must do a reaction to, The Great Gig in the Sky which about facing death and has no words but is as moving as any of their works: kzitem.info/news/bejne/142QnJyjgZxjgHY (Pink Floyd - The Great Gig In The Sky (PULSE Restored & Re-Edited)) There is a reason this is one of the most sold albums of all time...

Enjoy listening to the music and your reactions. You can be ok ose your eyes. It's okay. IMO, Pink Floyd tells a story you can personally relate to. It hits home. You, or someone you know, fits into the story they tell. Musically, they understand space like few others. They never rush. You have time to listen, want more and experience the emotions and memories which relate to you and yours. Sorry if I'm being redundant. I think we all experienced a time period we loved and lost. Maybe we dwell too much. Those periods are our foundations. Embrace them. You lived them for a good reason. Peace!!
