Finlay Wild on Pinnacle Ridge on Sgurr nan Gillean, Isle of Skye. We arrived on top at sunset, Finlay stayed to bivvy. Anna Wells came up (on the cairn in last shot!) and also bivvied. Meanwhile I headed back to Broadford in time to recharge drone batteries for the morning...
I've been spending a lot of time on the Cuillin recently. With drone in hand, a midsummer Skye sunset and Finlay along, we set sights on Pinnacle Ridge as it was just too good to miss! Here he is climbing to Sgurr nan Gillean for a midsummer bivvy on the top, having already set the Trotternish hill race record in the morning.
Maybe more than all that, this sums up everything that is great about the Cuillin. A traverse often finishes late in the day in midsummer, with the massive shadow of Gillean projecting onto the Glen Sligachan moors. There's a vibe in that air. It's a place of converging circumstances beyond the sum of its parts.
Sadly I didn't bring my bivvy kit and ran down at midnight - no torch needed - then headed back up the hill again at sunrise, in time for guidebook photography.
