Russian tenor Piotr Ivanovich Slovtsov [ 30 June (July 12) 1886 Ustyanskoye - 24 February 1934 Krasnoyarsk] sings the romance from Rachmaninoff's Aleko.
Slovtsov possessed a strong, beautiful, warm, soft voice with a caressing timbre, amazing respiration, and irreproachable technique. Contemporaries called him the Siberian nightingale. Critics compared his voice to Sobinov.
Slovtsov recorded (about 72 sides) for Pathé, 1912 and Gramophone 1913, 1914 (Petersburg); Metropol, Corona, 1912 ( to Moscow): Ekstrafon, Artistotipiya, 1913 (Kiev); and Muztrest (1929-30).
