Thanks for posting this build. I made my own and they turned out very nicely. I used MCM 4.5" speakers (# 55-4624) that are 91dB/Watt. They work pretty well with my 3 W/Ch tube amp.

Those are nice speakers but don't expect a lot of bass. Try this design. 4" ID Pipe length 36". Port 2 square inches. Stuff pipe with polyester in first upper 24 ". Don't stuff it too heavy but you can experiment with different levels. Good luck.

I think I'm missing something here bird. The thumbnail and end image for these shows the speaker on the opposite side of the elbow. Is that a design change or an alteration for stereo?

Ken, please educate me, I need to know why pipes are put in to speaker cabinets?

Pipe are used for the tuning ports in what we call a ported speaker. The length of the pipe tunes the speaker box to a certain low frequency to match the woofer.

Hey I'm curious why didn't you just poke a hole on the base and add legs so the port face downwards? What about building a sealed PVC speaker version of it?

That would be another option, some folks may not like the closet flange. Sealing that small of a pipe would raise the resonant frequency of the driver reducing bass response. One could try using 6" PVC for more volume. Thanks for your response.

Ordinary speaker wire is all that is needed for this speaker. It is usually marked for identification so you can wire one lead to the positive terminal and one to the negative terminal of the speaker and the banana jacks.

The banana jacks can be used with banana plugs or they will also allow ordinary speaker wire to be connected to them They unscrew for the wire. Thanks for tip on showing some sound I will do so in future projects.
