I apologize for the audio quality. I have no idea what happened here.

I remember being somewhat disappointed with the ending way back when, and thinking Bootstrap would have been a more natural fit for the role, so good on you for elaborating on that idea a bit. Also, JFL @ Will's boomer dad being nicknamed Bootstraps.

On top of that in "Dead Men Tell no Tales" they reverse the curse of the Flying Dutchman anyway so it feels like it was all for nothing.

Your ending is how I thought they would do it while I was watching the movie. Making Orlando FL the Cap'n just seemed like a darker grittier copout and subversion of expectations. Great vidya btw

Thanks! Agreed on the "darker grittier" bit. PotC painted itself as being very over-the-top, almost campy, in almost all aspects of its storytelling, so the idea of trying to be subversive to our expectations seems very much unasked for.

I didn’t have an issue with Will Turner being the captain at all, I thought it was really good.

I agree with you. I also think that the first three movies were amazing stories, when I was a kid I used to play with again and again. I loved the plot and the stories. All three characters, Jack, Elizabeth and Will were awesome. They were a memorable trio. Want to know what I hate about big corporations? They turn everything into a cash grab, even when it doesn't make sense. Even when the story has concluded to an end and nothing more needs to be added. *Please just let it go for the sake of the fans* No, they will add more and add movies, without the original characters, (Will and Elizabeth) and they are so subpar. Honestly, I think that the later movies DID have some potential, but they missed the mark in my opinion. They had potential to be just as great if not better then the previous but they always felt like filler. They didn't add up to each other, there was no continuous narrative, or the last movie was far too flimsy and forgettable. Remember that girl who loved Jack that came in the later movies, the mermaid movie, I forgot her name. By the end, she got a voodoo doll of Jack and I thought it would have some significance. It didn't. The last movie with Barbosa dying, even though that was a powerful moment, the events prior in my opinion didn't have good writing. What do you think?

A much better reputation can be gained when one goes out on top. I'd much rather hear "From the people who brought you the excellent Pirates trilogy" to "Time for yet another Pirates movie". Say what you will about Robert Zemekis's foray into uncanny animation, but at least he had the good sense to let the Back to the Future films conclude.

@@JohnBradford14 I am not so familiar with the Back to the Future franchise but definitely I respect people who respects themselves and their own art and not let it become a cash grab. And yes your idea about making the new movies into spin-offs still sounds much better than what we got. I still loved the movies though!
