I met this man shortly before he died… He spoke at the church where my father was the pastor. Little did I know, as a 7 year old, that I was talking to a man who had everything before Christ, yet possessed nothing. But, after believing in Christ, having nothing, yet possessing all thing!

All-time basketball great and only wants to be remembered as a Christian. Thanks for your testimony Pete!

I knew Pistol Pete Maravich as a basketball player already but when I heard he had become a Christian I laughed; I was not in his 'grace' at the time. I thought it was just another stupid person that doesn't know what to do with himself. Now, I wish I could apologize to him. I remember him as a Christian more so than a basketball player and how important it is to acknowledge Jesus as our savior. The old NBA films sometimes portray Pete as sounding really weird, even bad when he mentions Christ. He IS right. Its such a privilege to hear him now; a voice from the past warning people like me to commit your life to Christ. I wish I would have listened to him more much sooner than I came to my senses when I had the chance.

I think it's because Maravich was somewhat aloof during his NBA career. Also, he struggled with drinking during his career and was on bad teams. I think these are reasons why he was somewhat ashamed of his basketball career.

I am so grateful to have met and performed with Pete and hie Dad when I lived in Germany. I remember my Mom and Pete sitting and talking for a moment after that performance, but have no doubt she witnessed to Pete for at least one sentence. So happy He found what he was looking for in peace through Jesus Christ. What a beautiful testimony... Thank you, Pete for the great (baseball) advice you gave me and the laugh we shared after I was drafted years later.

My Grandmother was a dear Saint of God. When I was wild and wandering she gave me a cassette tape to listen to of Pete Marivich giving his testimony. I can't say that tape brought me to the Lord, but Pete said some things that kept my worldly heart soft towards the things of God. After giving my heart to the Lord years later I recognized that tape was one of several seeds planted by God. I dearly miss my Grandmother, and I wish Pete were still with us, but praise God for their lives.

Pete Maravich is the real thing. Had fame, money, women, etc. He chose Christ over and above everything. How many NBA players today would do the same? Probably not very many. Pete is a spiritual inspiration to all and resting peacefully in Heaven.

Why would anyone choose superstition over things that actually exist? Pete was clearly very confused, and it's quite common that confused people are vulnerable to magical beliefs.

I like Pete, but again, but why not be a priest and/or give up your money and large house and only take enough money to live. They never do. That's why I respect priests and nuns and the like. Lastly, in the bible, Jesus said he will start his church, aka religion is his bride and Christ is the head of that church. God Bless him, but he is misguided some. Thanks God Bless

Do you respect the priests that molest and rape our sons and daughters ? There’s a difference between religion and being a Christian. Being wealthy isn’t necessarily sinful , you realize king David and King Solomon were the richest men in old times, and they are seated in Heaven. I don’t think he’s misguided, not one bit really from what I see and hear. It sounds like you are misguided however.
