As a Nittany Lion, I thoroughly enjoyed this Just hope some day the rivalry returns, it’ll only happen when Pitt’s a powerhouse again

That was pretty cool dude I found that tailgating at Penn State has been pretty friendly to most people. I also found that the Nebraska fans were really friendly. The Michigan fans were really friendly well tailgating there at Penn State places you don’t wanna go or Oklahoma well that’s pretty much it. They hate everybody.

Great documentary bud, really liked your kind thoughts at the end. To be honest I was a bit taken aback by them, nice show of class my friend. I figured I'd share some thoughts I had on the rivalry that I had posted on facebook before the game. I do agree, this game needs to be played every year. It's way too much fun not to. By the looks of your effort, and the energy in the stadium last year and this year, it means a heck of a lot to both sides, even if they don't care to admit it. PS - I think Penn State and Pitt might be the only rivals in college sports who have the same mascot! (Relatively the same) - Look forward to seeing more from you! ------------------ NITTANY NATION... Do you remember what it feels like to have a rival? A REAL rival? If you're lucky enough to secure seats to Saturday's game in sold out Beaver Stadium, you'll quickly understand. Once considered one of the most important college football rivalries north of the Mason-Dixon line, this intrastate rivalry was deemed the biggest annual game for both schools for a large part of their histories. The game often had regional and national implications with the winner often claiming Eastern college football supremacy and its respective Lambert-Meadowlands Trophy. By the numbers: Meetings total: 97 --- UPDATE 98 All-time series: Penn State leads, 50-43-4 ---- UPDATE 51-43-4 Longest win streak: Pittsburgh, 14 (1922-38) Current win streak: Pittsburgh, 2 - UPDATED PENN STATE 1 Joe Paterno VS Pitt: 23-7-1 (1966-92, 1997-2000). What it means to PA. (PeaAye) Since my first attended game at the Beaver Stadium in 1999 (the last time we played Pitt at home), I've been to around 100 hundred #PennState games. I've seen our #NittanyLions battle all of the Big Ten Conference. Have been fortunate enough to see my Nits play dozens of big-time OOC traditional powers both at home and away. The intensity of the game last year In Pittsburgh, the raw emotion that was heavily coming from both sides, was leaps and bounds ahead of any other game I've been to. There's resentment between the two schools, regardless of how the best fans on either side say there isn't. What you are about to witness, tucked away in the rolling hills of the Appalachian Mountains of central Pennsylvania, is what we call Nittany Valley, or what some like to call, "Happy Valley". From above, you'll see a white dot on the landscape of emerald green trees that in many ways looks out of place. It actually becomes the third largest city in the state when Penn State fans clad in Navy in White gather in their mecca of a stadium the third largest in the world, named after a former governor of the state, General James A. Beaver aka the house that JoePa built. Grid-iron Football, Keystone classic, hard hitting, beer drinking, smack talking, and yes of course American Football loving passionate Pee Ehh football fans are the Nittany Lions and Panthers. Two feisty cats, once abundant in the surrounding areas, now separated 2.5 hours of windy roads dipping in and out the soon to be autumn landscape. What used to take four hours, now has been whittled down to two and a half. The ride between State & Pitt is in itself, a highlight reel of what makes Pennsylvania such a beautiful state. The US has an ideal layout for spectator sports which defines the land. The regions, climates, and states help map out the setting of College football in American. It's not bragging rights for your country, or your state, like you might see in European soccer, it's bragging rights for your Alma Mater. Your educator. It makes sense the many rivalries that have sprung up over the past 150 years between some of the greatest educational institutions in the world. Loaded with tradition, with enigmatic energy, raw emotion, sometimes hatred, sometimes compassion, flashes of respect, other times a lack there of is a blue snapshot of what is the best and worst of humanity. The kind of matchup you find between two schools who have an abundance of pride and no matter what. They will NOT shy away from showing it, they believe that winning is the only option, because hearing it from the opposition until you face them again is agony. Each matchup is yet another chapter similar to a Greek drama. Or a battle in the Coliseum. Since the beginning of time, It's our differences that make these rivalries seem so heated, but deep down it's really the similarities that make them a show that entertains millions of people across the country. "Sport is a product of human culture. America seems to need football at this state of our social development. When you get ninety million people watching a. single game on television, it... shows you that people need something to identify with." - Joe Paterno College football fans should get all the "feels" they associate with the classic traditions of College Football on Saturday afternoon. A game when rankings and records are tossed aside because what a game like this really comes down to, is heart. Who Wants It More? The Pitt Panthers Or The Penn State Nittany Lions Meeting #98 - Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Pittsburgh Panthers College Football - "The Keystone Classic." Is it Saturday yet? ...

Our rivalry is with Ohio state. Pitt isn't even on our radar 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Pitt is like Rutgers or Akron. No one gives a shit.

wrong. OSU is not our rivalry because their fans dont see it that way. They have Michigan. Pitt IS TRULY PSUs rivalry always has been and always will be. I would very much rather have Pitt than Ohio St as our rivals. Ohio St is a "Big Game" not a "Rivalry" game. At the end of the day the Ohio St game is just another game.

Interesting documentary. This isn't a rivarly any longer though. It died with the 20th century. Pitt isn't a juggernaut anymore and Penn State has over come a lot to remain nationally relevant. Even with Sanctions Penn State maintained strength and has begun to flourish once more. Pitt has floundered without any real obstacles. I rather see Penn State play West Virginia, Virginia Tech and other East Coast powers. No real advantages for Penn State to play Pitt. Playing Penn State fills Pitts Stadium. What does Penn State gain? I would be up for a 1 and 1 game series per decade or something like that. But not every year. Bring on Georgia, Miami, FSU etc.

Hmm fair point. I wouldn't say they've floundered with any obstacles considering we beat Penn State and Clemson last year. I hope that Narduzzi will get Pitt back in the top 25. Once Ben Denucci takes over at QB we have a shot at beating some serious teams. Personally I don't think it would be a bad idea for it to be 2 games at PSU per 1 game at Pitt. Penn state is more capable of hosting a kickass gameday.

Dean Bog Issue is when Big Ten went to 9 game conference schedules, which limits PSU's (and rest of BIG) out of conference slate. I believe ACC and SEC are 8 game schedules and maybe pac12 and big 12 as well. While me, who grew up in Johnstown, having my dad tell me the stories of those late 70s early 80s games between the two, who also took me to Pitt and PSU games growing up, finally got to experience it these last 2 seasons after having graduated from PSU in '10. I'd like to see it every year, but that would limit bringing in other Power 5 FBS team on the OOC slate due to how all power 5 power 5 teams usually schedule OOC. So we could basically have Pitt and 2 Ws on the schedule for the other OOC games every year or rotate other power 5 teams into the OOC. We also have Auburn, WVU and Virginia Tech lined up (not during the same year) I believe following the Pitt series.

Btw great video and editing. Also wanted to note seeing Larry Fitzgerald at Heinz is similar to how I saw Barkley these past few years. Have been living in Highland Park, down the road from Pitt, these past few years and really enjoy Pittsburgh. I also yearn for the days I had and the days to come at Dear Ol' State.
