Space Marines tend to be surgical strike forces most of the time anyway. It is _rare_ to see them fielded as mainline troops at the front of a major battle given how difficult it is to replace them (pre-Primaris anyway) and how incredibly destructive those kinds of front-line fights tend to be.

@@cccaaawww8685 Space marine glazing under a guardsman video is crazy. If you've read any of the books, you'd know how inconsistently they're written. Sometimes they're depicted as elite special forces sure, yet for some reason, Astartes are also piloting Thunderhawks. Other times, they're shock troops and another time they're portrayed as grunts who die en masse for dramatic effect. The only consistent thing about them is their strategy to walk forward, bolter in hand, shooting until there's nothing left to shoot.

Given that the result was effectively a death knell for the Imperium, it was a very fair trade off. An unusable, if incredibly valuable, ship for the destruction of the one world holding back the Warp. The Psychic Awakening made Chaos a massive threat, without the Deus Ex Machina of Roboute Guilliman awakening at that time and launching the Indomitus Crusade the Imperium would have been fucked, and there's no way Abbadon could know that Cawl and Robu's Aeldari GF were going to resurrect him.

I remember a VA doing this between a Night Lord and a Guardsman, and the fact that the Guardsman had been standing his ground without a vox grill altering his voice somehow made it stand out even better than Burial Goods' example. On That Day, Fear was not merely pushed backwards, but challenged and conquered. Don't get me wrong--it's always good to watch the merciless tide of fear be routed by an equal force. However, I've always felt that a Loyalist Space Marine would be far more appropriate. Because the way that it is worded always implied that it is, in fact, the one talking. But also, it implies that this marine never lost even a fraction of his humanity, for even he himself would believe that he shed much of it, through surgery, training, battle, or just that ever present persistent foe called time. Despite all this, humanity keeps shining through! Ironically, through his sheer belief in said humanity. “To each of us falls a task. And all the Emperor requires of us guardsmen is that we stand the line and die fighting. It is what we do best, we die standing”. General Sturnn, 412th Cadian Regiment.

'For ten thousand years, the hearts of men have stood united against a galaxy that despises them for no reason save that they had the audacity not to lay down and die." Not strictly accurate, most of the galaxy does have a lot more reason than that to hate humanity, but in this moment you see something a bit brighter than the usual 40K grimderp. Maybe a little echo of the Golden Age of Humanity, just a touch.

The guardsman swings his chainsword in desperation. And with shattering planks... falls the arm of the false superhuman. The axe and its hum fall silent the marine doesn't even feel pain. It's shock. A split second of true respect and awe... enough to shatter hundreds of years of power madness and glory chasing... Not a realisation of false beliefs... But a realisation of a life wasted... one meaningless... a spark lost... and a camaraderie spat upon. The chainsword sputters and clicks as it carves through the finest armor, down into the skull of the marine. Cheap equipment does not dissuade the true warrior. The greatest superhuman proven to be the common man.

I remember seeing this with some SFM animations before somewhere else. It's still good, and burialgoods' voice adds that extra bit of flavor. The Hammer of the Emperor still stands. His Angels of Death are mighty indeed, blessed by His hand, but they cannot be everywhere. The Guard can. The Guard is.

I still think willingly bringing a child into the 40K verse would be the most evil act imaginable. You're basically bringing a life into existence knowing that Hell is a near-guaranteed outcome, no matter how innocent they are.

Poor guardman, he is proud to be one of the many who die without giving any meaning to his life than be one of the many who died for ten thousand years to protect the lifestyle of a few nobles in holy Terra. If I will fail, at least, will be in the chase of my own goals. Praise the Chaos.

And what do you have, chaos boy? What do you bring that makes you better than a man who fights from his own will, who willingly defies all your masters and gods, sherely becauye he said so. And speaking of, what are you? A once mortal flesh toy, mutated by a genes of a demi god, and then stripped away of all thought in favor of a parasyte, who now acts as you, while you serve a gods, who will find your failure equaly entertaining, or even more than your victory. One god shall be happy with your blood spilled, other one from the pain and missery you will feel. One will downright plan you fail, so that he can plan more, the other one will be happy your death keeps the cycle going. You are an overgrown mistake, with an illusion of a will, pretending to stand high, but failing for ten thousand years to achieve any significant victory to bolster your.... No, the chaos gods cause, for you dont even have one. And lets not forget, Necrons, a souless army with even less identity than you, slave, carry weapons to end chaos in its own right, and Tyrannids, a hive mind of leaches that ever grow starving for more bio mass, are naturaly born to turn even a maddened thing like you insane further. And yet, all that fights them, all that keeps them, is a poor man like the one you mock. What does it say of you, fleshlight? What does it say of your side, when you failed to win for 10 thousand years, achieving only in failing to win? I have an answer, but you are too far gone to even be able to comprehend it.

This dialogue shows how self centered chaos astartes are. He literally cant comprehend that Guardsman are there not for themselves but for a cause greater than just elevation of themselves like slave of dark gods such as he is. And they arent alone in their foxholes. They have their comrades there just beside them
