is there a way to move the pivot point of one object to a random place in the world. for instance I want to move the pivot of the cube and snap it somewhere to the grid and let it be the newly pivot point. can I do that?
@Julian-B

Is blender also able to do something basic, e.g. moving a pivot point to a custom location without using the 3d cursor? Or place the pivot point to the object center with just one click on a button, something like "center pivot to object"?

Thanks again- this course is extremely helpful. Also, are you considering continuing tutorials geared toward beginners? For instance, I'm interested in 2D/3D animation involving the new Grease Pencil Tool and 3D set pieces...
@Chocofur

Hey Charlie! Grease Pencil is not our strongest side in Blender, but we'll definitely cover more general 3D topics in the future, once the Beginners Course is finished.

One little nitpick: Probably better to introduce newbies to the local coordinate system first instead of the normal one, otherwise they might be in for a treat once they start manipulating meshes. Great tutorials otherwise, keep up the good work. (What am I doing here if I know this? I'm switching over from 3DSMax, as despite it being a great application, it feels like it's getting more and more cumbersome by the year, and I've had enough of it. Also, the 4K UI scaling in Max never worked properly for me.)

Hey Lumos, many thanks for your comment and it's always great to see Max veterans trying out Blender. Regarding the Local / Normal orientation - in Blender 2.79 what you would intuitively consider Local coordinates were called Normal. In Blender 2.80 it works kind of the same, so I think it's more of a naming convention issue :-)

How can I center an object's pivot pont to it's center is it's not. Some times I duplicate objects, but the pivot pont does not match the object's center.

Hello why this option work just with simple object from blender(default box&monkey)i mean individual rotation or scale& not working with imported (obj or stl)more complex parts,something like stones from zbrush ....or may be i wrong?Thank you

Hey, I'm curious about manipulating pivot points within edit mode, I know Maya has the ability to allow a user to snap the pivot once in edit mode to aid moving and rotating an object within its variation of edit mode, is this possible for blender.

Thanks for this video. A tutorial I was watching didn't even explain 99% of what you were doing and I couldn't figure out the correct settings and hotkeys for extruding vertices in a very specific way. Thanks again for your very informative video.

How to replace pivot point?

arrrgh... so far so good.. but how to deselect an object of a group, when you only can make an object aktive by once again clicking on it ? Seems, that Blender tries to do everything in another way as the other 3d packages ?
@tapiolahde6987
5 жыл бұрын
That part was explained incorrectly in the video. You can deselect a single object from a group by shift-clicking on it but in the video the gizmo was larger than the object which prevented clicking the object a second time. So you can for instance change the tool to a selection tool, zoom a little closer to click around the gizmo or disable the gizmo from the overlays menu.
@Chocofur
5 жыл бұрын
Hey Tom, you need to double click on the object to deselect it! We'll add that note to the course text part in the video description!
