my question is, just because Google will custom manufacture the Tensor G5 from scratch, does that necessarily mean it'll be better than the G4? Samsung has been manufacturing chips for years now, and Google just tinkered the chips a little bit, but that doesn't necessarily mean they can completely design a new chip from scratch and for it to be great?

Maybe my bar is too low. But I'm currently watching this on a pixel 6. I've never felt like my phone is slow or lacking power. Battery life is still pretty good. Not perfect but I don't find myself worried about my phone dying. My major complaint about this phone is the finger print sensor being slow and not working well with a screen protector. This phone has aged well for me. I have no desire to upgrade as of yet. Maybe in another few years.

My mom have the exynos s24 I can say that its a improvement from the snapdragon 8 gen 1 in her previous s22 and the internet connection is getting stable. Its big improvement from my moms old s10e with exynos 9820.

I gave my wife my Pixel 6 Pro because I was going to get the Pixel 9 Pro.. but I'm not.. I'm going to wait for the Pixel 10 Pro. So I'm using an old OnePlus 6 running on LineageOS 21 for the time being.. and I have no problem with that.

Having an 8 and not being a person who needs to have the larest I'll wait a few months to see what the 10s looking like before deciding if its worth getting. Anyone looking at purchasing the 9 I wouldn't blame them. Best of luck whatever you decide.

95% of all smartphone users shouldn’t even be bothered by those numbers. The G4 will perform incredibly well, just like the g3. As long as your not one of those hardcore phone gamers, you will never ever feel the, at least on paper, worse performance. Also, it will be more efficient than the G3. The pixel 8 pro could easily get one day of battery life, so the pixel 9 pro will be at least on par or better than this. So no reason to be worried. If you like the design and the software, just get it.

The issue isnt that tensor is slow. Its that its inefficient (which is a product of being weak), in addition charging as much as they do to give performance the iphone was giving 3 years ago is unforgivebale. They should be selling this sort of performance for $300-400 LESS than iphone prices.

I have been using tensor chef from pixel 6 pro to pixel 7 pro. And i have no issues at all. Im running beta version always. Well done google. 🇳🇬

Of course I'd rather wait for the 10, but Google tends to forsake the previous generation as soon as they release a new one, only giving new software features to the new one. So that makes me consider the 9

I'll be upgrading to the pixel 9 but no way am i paying full price. I'll wait until they have $200 discount or something. That being said, I haven't had any issues with the tensor chip. The only thing i hate is the finger print scanner and they should be fixing it on this one.

My pixel 6 pro has been a good sidekick for me but I'm definitely feeling an upgrade for camera and battery life mainly...also screen brightness. I'm tired of barely being able to see my phone outside 😂

was the 1st tensor equivalent to 8gen1 or weaker? i dont understand why they dont want to use SD chipset. i mean if they dont then shouldnt be overpricing pixel line.

It's not option for me anymore to wait. Gotta replace my 4 years old Pixel 3a since the battery unable to hold the power like it used to be. Might wait for Pixel 9 launch, it's either Pixel 9 or Pixel 8.

Wait. The new processors in the 10 lineup will be made by tmsc, the same company that makes processors for IPHONES. Would you rather have this processor or the Tensor G4 which is made by Samsung? It isn’t really that hard to figure out, is it?😊

I do not care what cpu they put in. If their most expensive device does NOT perform the best in all categories, is not worth it. That is what I am paying for isn’t it? I pay to have all it can be had in a phone, not have a 2nd phone to take good pictures at a concert.

There hasn't really been a good reason to wait a whole year for a next generation of technology since like 2018, probably earlier than that. Get a phone when you need it. That being said, as good as the move to TSMC is going to be, the 2nd generation on TSMC will probably be the one to wait for if you were going to wait for a better chip. Give them a year to learn Tensor and how to best manufacture it.

The biggest undoing of Pixel phones is the battery life. It's lagging behind in comparison to the other flagships. Waiting to see battery life of P9P XL.

I'm a huge fan of the new hardware design choice they've chosen to go with this generation, especially the matte finish. The only thing I want is better battery life & better sounding speakers as I do watch a lot of KZitem on my phone. Cellular connectivity could use some work as well. Other than that all good and will be upgrading 🙂🤗💯

Google should have just announced they're taking the time to perfect the Pixel 10 rather than put us through an another incompetent iteration of the Samsung Tensor. 2025's TSMC chip should in fact have been the G4. 2024 should be skipped altogether.

Tensor needs more power and efficiency . The current minor improvements are not enough to keep up with rivals like Qualcomm snapdragon and Apple silicon.

I dont have issues with the tensor soc, it covers my needs, but why on earth is google dropped the Sony sensors? we need them back! quality on Pixel 5 and back were godlike, these days is meh. I'll wait for a camera upgrade before purchasing a new phone.

Also, if they're doubling down on TSMC chip, the Pixel 9 upgrade might not be worth it. So if you're looking for a phone right now, I'd think Pixel 8 is still a good choice.

I had a Pixel 6a with the G1? anyway, it was fine no real issues except standby time wasn't great, but not terrible either. Now I'm spoiled with a one Plus 12R which has amazing battery life and fast charging. Pixel will always have the best camera imo, but others are getting very close.

The beauty of 7 years of updates is that you don't have to pick up a pixel on the day of release and you can buy the last year's phone cheaper. And we all know the Pixel 9 will be on sale.
