You know. I have watched at least 40 reviews on this device and ultimately I just have to buy it for myself to see what my experiences were like. And I have to tell you I love this device. And I was one of those who said it wasn't worth $1,800 but that's before I started using it. It has so many ways that I can use the device that I've never used the phone before. I like the fact that I can use it like a normal phone and only really use the big screen when needed. When I had the Galaxy z fold 4 I was always forced to open and use the big screen which I did not like because I was in many situations when I could not use the big screen. I know the pixel fold is criticized for its lack of features and multitasking. That is understandable but you have to remember all Google is trying to do here is give the pixel experience just in a different form factor. They're not trying to be Samsung. By the way if I want five or six screens open I have the Samsung tablet for that. I love this device and I probably will keep it.

Not perfect, but even the Fold 4 is not. When we compare fold versus fold then the pricing is similar so I am not sure the problem you have with the price is just the problem with new foldable tech? There will always be a premium and I think it is unfair to just call the Pixel Fold out, as the Galaxy Fold 5 is also overpriced. So it simply comes down to whether you are willing to pay the foldable tax to be in the early wave of users or wait 10 years until prices (maybe) fall? As for other complaints, they have not been relevant to me. Battery life is great, on Android 14 and 5G turned off. No 5G has solved the phone warming up. No task I do causes too much warmth. Non-optimised apps, I just turn to portrait mode. Living in the UK, max brightness is rarely an issue. The choice in the UK is ATM, a Galaxy Fold, Huawei (no Google and even more expensive) or the Pixel Fold. Having tried them all, the Pixel is easily preferred due to the front display (Twitter poll 86% preferred a wider display for the Galaxy Fold 6). That makes the Pixel Fold worth $1800 more than the Galaxy Fold 5, even though the latter is obviously more refined. Less refined is not a deal-breaker, the poor narrow Fold 5 front display is evil incarnated and something Samsung should have changed with the Fold 4, and is a real put-off. Google got the fundamentals right and a winner, IMHO.

I know the Pixel Fold comes loaded with Android 13, but wasn't it designed for Android 14, which will be out soon? From the reviews I have read on this device, it is pretty good for the first generation. I am guessing that many of the complaints you have will be addressed in future releases. If you want a device with two screens and the folding technology, the price is what it is for this type of device. The screen size (aspect ratio) is where this device kills the Fold, and Samsung has had 5 years to correct that flaw.

Foldables are expensive just because of the market right now. The average price of a base model foldable in the US is $1779. Prices will come down later of course but foldables are just really new still, it's the reason Electrics Vehicles are expensive too but prices has come down for those very recently mainly due to incentives.

First off anybody saying pixel phones? Overheat during slight gaming or literally just the phone being in their pocket is someone who has never used the pixel device. These phones absolutely do not do that. I've had many pixel phones, none of them overheat. I think the problem is there's way too many pixel haters out there who never purchase a pixel device who are scared that Samsung and Apple actually have competition. Also anybody saying this phone isn't worth $1,800 is a total fool! We need better reviewers in this industry. If the pixel phone isn't worth 1800 then no iPhone should be more than $600 and the Samsung z fold 5 is also too much money! But nobody really cares about that. Most people ain't going to buy this phone no way because most people don't even have $600 to drop on a phone. The pixel fold will be a niche product just like the z-fold 5! Simple as that. Not even accounting for 5% of Samsung's or Google sales. So what do you mean when you say don't buy this phone for $1,800? Because the product you're getting is totally worth that. Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean it cost too much. That just means you need to boss up and do something better with your life! Instead of trying to assume that all of these companies are supposed to give you products for dirt cheap but asking this same company that they constantly make their phones more premium every year like I honestly do not understand this thought process. Y'all want Google to do all this stuff but y'all want it for $300. Don't make no sense Y'all need to do better! I definitely expect better from 9 to 5 Google!

I really wish reviewers would stop comparing the fold to regular candy bar phones. The different form factor makes for some concessions in certain areas. @@AnthonyMott727the fold 5 even furthers distances the gap of horsepower between the Samsung and pixel the fold 4 was already more powerful and efficient than the pixel now the fold 5 is way more powerful and efficient which affects heat , battery life etc . I'm waiting for the Fold gen2 to come out before I make a move to it. I've been with Pixel/Google phones from pretty much the start, and don't plan to shift away from them. I'm waiting to see what the Pixel 8 brings to the table. I'm 99% sure I'll hold off on going to one (from my 7 Pro) until I at least see what the Fold 2 has for features/changes. I'll most likely look to see one in store before getting one. Where the regular phones are less unknown, the fold form factor is different enough. Hopefully the Fold 2 will come out mid 2024. If they make us wait until 2025 (or longer) then they'll either need to bring MAJOR improvements to the device, or reduce the cost significantly to make it worth getting.

i really wanna get a pixel fold, especially because AT&T is offering $1,000 off if I trade in my Pixel 5. But a 4,800mah battery is just so small that it doesen't even seem worth it. They should have just made the phone bigger or thicker so they could fit a bigger battery or something.

@@aliasgharkhoyee9501 Well I did end up getting the pixel fold. But battery life when unfolded does not last longer than a few hours, which can be annoying for an $1,800 phone. I still think a phone like this needs a more tablet sized battery. They could have at least strived for a 5000mah battery so that the fold can be comparable to the regular pixel phones. Let's just hope the battery gets bigger on the fold 2.

Your likes and dislikes seem pretty spot on. While I dont have a pixel fold, I would add one like and one dislike to your list. I would like for them to keep the same form factor. If they do change it, id say make it a hair taller. As for my additional dislike, Google really needs to improve their facial recognition, primarily at night. There are other phones that perform better facial recognitionat night. The outside sensor should be replaced and you would think that since they have that bezel inside, they can add more sensors on the inside to have facial there as well. To change the subject briefly, There are many phones outside of the US that have fast charging speeds (wired and/or wireless) compared to Google, Samsung, etc. and to my knowledge we rarely, if ever, hear about battery deteriorating issues. Any thoughts on why they cant or wont move to those kind of charging speeds?

If you want the cutting edge of tech it always comes with compromise. Battery life being one of them. Even the galaxy folds are just ok for battery. I love tech and pre ordered mine. However I needed a watch upgrade and being a google one member I got 10% credit on the order which means my new pixel buds pro we in the price for. So take the cost of the watch and the buds off ( which for my case I would have purchased). Phone cost me £1250 give or take. I'm happy with that. Honestly no one who can afford to buys phones at this cost worrying about future stuff. They will buy another one next year. These won't be for the mass public until they at the sub 1k price point and proved they will last 2 to 3 years.
